A Message from the Principal

Hello Mesa Families,

We are in full swing for the school year. We so appreciate your support by attending Mesa's Student Led Conferences and Book Fair. The event was well attended and we were happy to see so many Mesa families there.

In November, we will have another opportunity for parents/guardians to visit Mesa during Parent/Guardian Visitation Day. Please review the calendar below for the date and more information will be out shortly. November will be a busy month with Parent Visitation Day, Concerts, Feeder Concerts, the Patriotic Celebration and more. We hope to see you at these events.

Our PTO has done an amazing job this year supporting our teachers and creating a number of fundraising opportunities, please look below for how you can help to support Mesa.

This year Mesa was recognized as a Special Olympics Unified Champion School where we demonstrated our commitment to inclusion by meeting the 10 standards of excellence as identified by the Special Olympics Unified Program. Only a handful of schools in Colorado are recognized for this honor and we appreciate the dedication of our teachers, students and parents in supporting this work.

As always if you have any questions or if there is something we can support you with, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. We are always looking to grow and improve.

Tony Jackowski

National School Recognition Program

A Special Olympics Unified Champion School has an inclusive school climate and exudes a sense of collaboration, engagement and respect for all members of the student body and staff. A Unified Champion School receiving national banner recognition is one that has demonstrated commitment to inclusion by meeting 10 national standards of excellence. These standards were developed by a national panel of leaders from Special Olympics and the education community.

The primary activities within these standards include: Special Olympics Unified Sports® (where students with and without disabilities train and compete as teammates), Inclusive Youth Leadership and Whole-School Engagement. Banner Unified Champion Schools should also be able to demonstrate they are self-sustainable or have a plan in place to sustain these activities into the future.

Class of 2019 National Banner Unified Champion Schools in Colorado:

  • Black Forest Hills Elementary School, Brighton High School, Chaparral High School, Colorado State University, Greeley Central High School, Greeley West High School, Legend High School, Mead High School, Mesa Middle School, North Valley Middle School, Regis Jesuit High School, Smoky Hill High School, Valley High School, Wildcat Mountain Elementary School

King Soopers Fundraising
Help raise money for Mesa with every trip to the grocery store!

The Mesa Middle School PTO is now enrolled in the Community Rewards program with King Soopers! Simply register your SooperCard online at, go to My Account, then Community Rewards. Search for Mesa Middle School PTO or enter code PP995 and they will send us a contribution each time you swipe your SoopersCard at the register!

It is that easy to raise money for our school while doing your regular shopping!

Annual Giving Campaign
This school year, the Mesa Middle School PTO won't be asking you or your students to sell wrapping paper, candles, candy, or to get pledges for fun runs. Instead, we are asking you to invest in our teachers and students by donating online (and to share our campaign with your friends and families too).

Our Colorado Gives Annual Giving Campaign allows you to support our school without taking a catalog to work or to your neighbors!

Mesa's amazing X-C team competed in the Polson Ranch Invitational put on my DCHS. All of the athletes pushed themselves to their limits running an additional 1/2 mile and breaking many personal records. James Gramling took 10 place overall for boys & Chloe Johnson took 12th overall for the girls.

Mesa's Counseling Department

The Counseling Department has been completing their Student Snapshots, where they meet with every 7th grader and all new 8th graders to Mesa. So far, the Counseling Team has completed over 221 Student Snapshots, and will continue them throughout the next few weeks. Some of the things discussed during these meetings is who is a trusted adult at school, how has the year been and what kind of support they want from the Counseling Department.
