Possible Shift to Category Red - Until more is known, Fourth Graders will attend school every day beginning this week, October 12-16
The following information was emailed from WASD on Friday. Check your email or click on the link below for more information regarding CDH Potentially Shifting Schools to Category 3-Red
Central District Health (CDH) notified the community earlier today they are likely shifting into Category 3- Red for Ada County schools next week. Their regularly scheduled category update is Tuesday, October 13. West Ada School District will use guidance provided by CDH in decision making.
CDH also outlined recommendations giving schools more flexibility in maintaining hybrid learning plans in red operations. CDH indicated all plans should include means for reducing risks for students, staff and teachers, and should include additional restrictions and actions if COVID-19 cases occur. West Ada School District will continue working through the details of what changes and mitigation measures need to take place for us to be successful in red operations.
West Ada School District's leadership and Board of Trustees will use the first few days of next week determining what needs to be adjusted or implemented shall we go into red operations:
- Monday - Executive Team discusses pandemic plan and potentially moving to red operations.
- Tuesday - COVID-19 taskforce reviews the new guidance and discusses implementation. The Board of Trustees will consider possible amendments to the pandemic plan, also known as the Fall Reopening Plan, during their regular meeting. Based on the Board’s recommendations any changes would begin October 19.
- Wednesday - Parents and staff will receive information on any changes to the pandemic plan and instructions for moving forward with learning.
Until we hear further information, we will continue this week, Monday, October 12, with all Fourth Grade students attending school every day for face-to-face learning, along with Grades K-3.
Grade 5 will continue with the T1/T2 alternating schedule as follows this week:
October 12 - T1
October 13 - T2
October 14 - T1
October 15 - T2
October 16 - T1
We will transition Fifth graders into the building every day during the week of October 19.
Safety Reminders
We want to say "Thank YOU" to students for wearing masks, adhering to social distancing and washing/sanitizing your hands frequently. Thank you, Parents and Guardians, for keeping children home if they are showing symptoms of being sick. Please remember to call our Attendance Secretary, Julie Matthews, to report a student's absence: 208-855-4430.
With the increase of students attending school daily, we have been so impressed with the drop-off and pick-up routines. Thank you for remaining in your vehicles and encouraging your students to exit and enter the vehicle quickly. Your efforts have been noticed and we thank you.
A few reminders:
Please remember, students are not to be on campus until:
- 8:45am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
- 9:00am Wednesdays
If parents arrive with their children before those times, please remain in your vehicles with your children since we do not have supervision available before those times. This allows our Teachers and Staff time in the morning to prepare for the day. Breakfasts are not served until the times posted above. Wednesdays are reserved for Teacher Collaboration Meetings, so students should not be at the classroom doors until 9:00am.
We also ask that parents remain at the front of the building, not walking children around to the classroom doors in the morning and not entering campus at the end of school day. This is for the safety of all students and staff. If a parent/guardian needs to speak to a teacher, please make prior arrangements or please come to the front office.
Any visitor on campus must check-in at the front office. Thank you.
