Daughter of a Shoshone Chief was born 1788 in Lemhi County Idaho
Captured by an enemy tribe around age 12
Sold to a French-Canadian man and made his wife
She was invited onto the Lewis and Clark expedition as a interpreter
Was pregnant during travel
Died in fort manuel in 1812
Perserverence
Taken away from her people. Sacagawea was pregnant during the expedition. managing to care for herself and her infant son despite her young age. Sacagawea became ill at different times on the expedition.
Wisdom
communication skills, medicinal knowledge, and geographical familiarity
Sacagawea suggested that they travel down south of the Mississippi river (everyone else didn't want to listen to her). It turned out it was the right move in the end. She trusted herself.
Selflessness
Sacagawea selflessly helped the group by communicated with other tribes. She could have taken her son with her and fled the group, but she stayed to help them survive.
Authoritative leadership
Sacagawea's leadership style is authoritative. A pro of this leadership style is that it helps people come together for a common goal. She is more of a visionary, giving her ideas and opinions and being confident with them.
