All School Letter
December 1, 2021
I'm sending out this ASL early because we have a busy Friday ahead of us! The 8th-grade Mentors will have two showings of their play on Friday. Tickets are available for purchase at the front of the school each morning and afternoon. For 1 week, starting this Friday, Mentors will have a silent auction displayed at the front of the school to raise money for their trip. More information is in your mailbox.
In the past week and a half, we have had 3 COVID positive cases in our school. Please continue to monitor symptoms and get a molecular or PCR test before sending your child back to school. Students who are close contacts need to quarantine at home. Please familiarize yourself with the information at the bottom of this newsletter. Christina can answer your COVID questions.
We are pleased to announce that Teal Belz (Rogers) will be at Chinook for the last two weeks in January to be our Artist in Residence. Students will participate in small group Aerial Silk lessons throughout the week. We will need a few volunteers to help with setup and during the lessons.
Lastly, as a way to show our gratitude to you this year, we will be holding game night for our students on Tuesday, December 14th. This will take place directly after school and last until 7:00 pm. We will have fun activities and dinner planned if you'd like your child to participate. If you can, please send in some money to help with dinner or sign up to bring a classroom snack.

Sick Students & COVID Positive Cases
Keeping your child home from school due to symptoms?
Contact Kat(email or call) in the office to excuse an absence due to illness. Please let us know about any symptoms, exposure, a positive test or if your child is a close contact.
If your child is out of school due to symptoms, we will need a copy of the PCR test results for them to return (if you choose to test). PCR testing is available through the district at three different locations. You will need your child's s numbers to schedule. Use this link to schedule a test: https://www.picktime.com/FNSBSD
My child is a close contact, what do I do?
It is still public health guidance and CDC guidance that close contacts who are not vaccinated quarantine. Please follow medical professional guidance, and do not send students who are close contacts to school. All children 5+ are now able to be vaccinated.
My child is a tested positive, what do I do?
Please let us know and contact public health (or their doctor) to determine when they can return to school.
Someone in my child's class tested positive, what do I do?
Monitor for any sign of COVID symptoms, if they do not have symptoms, they can be at school. Chinook now has antigen tests (tests for students who are not showing any symptoms) and can offer testing to students in the class 1-2 times after their last contact with the positive individual. This option will allow us to keep as many students in school as possible and see if transmission within the class is happening.
