Seco Scoop
Arroyo Seco Jr. High School -- April 9, 2021
Principal's Message
Hello Seco Families,
We hope you all have had a great Spring Break. Remember that periods 1, 2, and 3 meet on Monday. See the 4th quarter bell schedule, below, as a reference.
For parents of in-person students, thank you again for your cooperation with completing Crisis Go and having your children bring their ID's to ensure a safe and quick entry onto campus. Thank you also for encouraging your children to continue to follow all safety protocols, including wearing masks, using hand sanitizer, and maintaining social distancing.
The link to order Arroyo Seco spirit wear is open again through April 16. Purchases will be shipped a few days after that date. Here is the link:

We will be discussing lockdown procedures with students during 5th period on Tuesday, April 13. Please see the separate email that was sent earlier today for more information.
Thank you for all of your support and have a great weekend!
Building Community During COVID Virtual Parent Meeting
The focus of these panel discussions is to find ways to support our children during an incredibly unique time in their lives. The panel will consist of community experts in childhood development to offer explanations of how the pandemic is impacting our children and strategies of how to help them stay motivated. Arroyo Seco staff will be on hand to offer solutions for helping your child stay organized and current on their schoolwork. We will also have guests each week giving us information and suggestions on ways to keep your child active.
While our focus will remain the same each week, our panel will change, so feel free to join us each time to hear different perspectives and a variety of approaches to working with your child.
Student Drop Off and Pick Up Reminders
Thank you for your patience and cooperation with dropping off and picking up of students. We know afternoons can be a challenge especially with six buses picking up students from the front of school. Unfortunately, as the lot fills up, we will ask you to keep driving and circle back around so that buses can get in and traffic does not back up onto Decoro. If you are unable to pick up your child immediately upon dismissal (for instance, if you are picking up an elementary school child first), students will be in front of campus with campus supervisors.
As a reminder, students can walk or ride bicycles to and from school; skateboards and bicycles must be stored in our bike rack area during the school day and students are expected to wear helmets. If your child walks or if you pick them up at a location off campus, make sure you discuss with them the importance of following all safety guidelines such as staying on sidewalks, using crosswalks, following traffic lights, and listening to directions of school staff, as well as the elementary school staff and crossing guards.
You may have noticed that SCV Water has begun work along Decoro Drive, between Bidwell and Blueridge Drive. Construction will take place through June 2021 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. While thru-traffic access will remain open, please plan for delays as one lane will be closed in each direction during those times. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Please note that nothing can be dropped off or picked up at the office during dismissal as the parking lot is full at that time. Lunch pickup for students not attending in person that day is from 1:15 to 2:00.
