Find Someone Who...
After having a week off, we went on a scavenger hunt to find someone who...flew on an airplane, had a birthday, went to the movies, visited relatives....
OSMO
Mrs. Sayre introduced us to the OSMO program using the Ipad. It is a fun and engaging making word activity. We will be using it during small groups now that the children know how to use it and set it up.
Phonics
We are learning about closed syllable words. A closed syllable has one vowel and one or more consonants after it. That makes the vowel short.
We used our magnet tiles to build closed syllable words.
Math Facts
We used flash cards to quiz each other on our addition and subtraction facts. We discovered that we need a little more practice with this. Along with reading nightly, students could be going through their flashcards. If you don't have the ones we sent home, your child can help make them on index cards.
Buddies
We are honoring Earth day a little early with a project with our buddies. We colored a coffee filter with green and blue markers then sprayed with water. We traced a buddy hand and our hand as a reminder to take care of the Earth.
Science
We went outside to look for living and nonliving things. This has been on the schedule for a few days but the weather did not cooperate!
Doggy Bag
1. Students have new AR goals and reading levels for the last quarter. We want everyone to meet their goal this quarter.
2. Reading Log-The GSO is sponsoring a Read-a- Thon fundraiser. There is information in the Friday Folder--you can use their reading log instead of mine for this. Our class needs to read 4,400 minutes--no problem!
