rings of Jupiter
What are they called?
Believe it or not there is more to Jupiter than being the biggest planet in the solar system. Scientist studied Jupiter’s atmosphere more carefully and its surroundings, and found there are 4 rings in Jupiter. It was called the Jovian ring system. There is the main ring, halo ring and the two gossamer rings. The gossamer rings were formed from the substance of the two moons orbiting Jupiter, Amalthea and Thebe. The halo and main ring were formed by the two inner planets orbiting Jupiter, Metis and Adrastea.
Discovery of the rings and colors
The rings were first discovered by voyager 1 space probe and thoroughly Investigated by Galileo. The gossamer rings and the main ring have a red color but the halo ring has a blue type color in infrared vision. It is currently unknown of how the rings were formed and when they existed.
why they aren't visible
The rings are just made up of materials from the small moons of Jupiter Amalthea, Thebe, Metis, and Adrastea. The rings aren’t visible by the human eye because it is so faint. The only thing visible through a telescope near Jupiter is the moon orbiting around it.
