Day 1 - Monday 7 February
Come learn how to use social media effectively in your job search! We will talk about the obvious LinkedIn, but we will also discuss how Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter can be used to find opportunities and connect with potential employers.

Strength-Based Interviews: 1200-1300
Strength-based interviews are becoming increasingly popular among graduate employers. They are designed to understand both what energises and motivates you, as well as what you do well. Come along to a workshop hosted by FDM Group and gain employer insight into why we use strength-based interview questions and how you can prepare successfully.

Video Interview Workshop: 1300-1400
Looking for a graduate job? Want a head-start in the selection process? Come along to an interactive workshop hosted by FDM Group that equips you with the skills and confidence to excel in Video Interviews. We aim to give you an insight into what a video interview entails, how you can prepare, and why they are becoming a popular recruitment tool used by many graduate employers.

Talking about your PSC experience: 1400-1530
This workshop will help you think about how you can best use your PSC experience in job applications and interviews.
With contributions from Careers Centre and CAPOD staff, learn how to articulate your experiences and think about ways in which you might have been able to apply your learning.
The workshop will aim to improve how you match your PSC experience to the essential and desirable competencies employers are looking for.

Day 4 - Thursday 8 February
Spotting opportunities which could be a business or social enterprise seems like a big challenge. In this session we’ll consider where ideas come from. We’ll also try out some techniques to stimulate your creative thinking for spotting opportunities.

Where can History take you? 1300-1530
This session will feature a panel of alumni who studied History at St Andrews. Hear about the paths they took to get into their current roles; what their work has involved; and their advice to students interested in pursuing similar opportunities. The session will be followed by a drinks reception.

You’ll get to hear from Sam Ross, Shona Mach and student speakers about the wonders of Work Shadowing, Santander- supported Internships and the St Andrews Summer Internships Scheme!

Careers in Science Communication: 1730-1900
What are they? This event will feature a range of alumni who work in the area of “science communication”. Lewis Dean (alum of 2011) is a senior Policy Manager for Public Engagement with Research for the RCUK while also being a stand-up comic on the side, Lara Bennet is Medical Writer for Comradis Ltd as well as previously working as a Science Communication Officer for Cancer Research UK, Emma Dixon an alumni works at Dundee Science Centre. Mhairi Stewart (Head of Public Engagement with Research) and Katrina Falkenberg (Science Communication for Biology Research) who work at the University of St Andrews will also be presenting. They will be discussing what their roles entail and how they got where they are today. The talks will be followed by a Q&A session.

Day 5 - Friday 9 February
The Careers Centre in conjunction with the Student Association & Societies are hosting the first Creative Industries Careers Panel. There will be presentations from the organisations participating with plenty of chance to ask questions and network:

- Sarah Conner (Blue Planet 2) has also worked on Horizon and Blue Peter. Sarah was previously a freelance writer and photographer for publications such as Lonely Planet
Creative arts and design jobs cover a variety of roles so no matter where your interest lies - be it in art, craft, design, fashion, heritage or performance - you're bound to find a creative job to suit you. The creative industries are mainly made up of small companies and micro-businesses. While the majority of companies may be small the sector also has large well-established organisations that recruit graduates.

Dr Neil Millar, Clinical Practice Director in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Edinburgh is returning by popular demand to talk about Edinburgh’s Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He will also describe what clinical psychologists do, using his own work as a practitioner as an illustration. There will be plenty of opportunity for you to ask your own questions in the Q&A.

Wildlife Filming - featuring alumni on Blue Planet 2: 1715-1800
Two alumni Amy Thompson (graduate from 2014) currently working for Blast Films on the Channel series “Secret Life of the Zoo” and Sarah Conner (graduate 2004) Edit Producer/Assistant Producer at BBC Blue Planet 2). The University is very lucky to have these two alumni travel up to St Andrews to share their experiences and advice on breaking into this area.
A one hour talk will be followed by a Q&A session.
