Prevent Child Abuse Delaware (PCAD) is a private non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. One service offered by DCAD is school-based prevention education programs for children, which cover a variety of topics from personal safety and child abuse. ALL Pleasantville students will again be involved in a program entitle "B.E.S.M.A.R.T." about personal safety starting this Friday, January 6th through January 12th and January 17th. During this two-session program, an interactive activity will be used to teach children the B.E.S.M.A.R.T. skills, with support from Mrs. Wedell, our school counselor. Information about the program can be found on their website at www.pcadelaware.org. Please don't hesitate to contact Mrs. Wedell with any questions or concerns.
Spanish Immersion will be coming to Pleasantville for SY23-24 for Kindergarten. Colonial has had so many applicants in previous years, that they decided to have a northern site in addition to Wilbur's Spanish Immersion Program. Choice is now open, until January 11th, 2023. If you have an incoming Kindergarten student and would like him/her to join the Spanish Immersion Program at PLV, please complete the CSD Language Immersion Choice Application. Student applicants will also be scheduled to take a Kindergarten Readiness Assessment once the Choice Application is submitted. The goal is to enroll a maximum of 50 students in the program. Students would have an English Language teacher for English (Mrs. Nicole Belasco) and Social Studies for half of their day and then the Spanish Language teacher (TBD) for Math and Science the other part of the student day. We are excited to have KN Spanish Immersion join our 4th and 5th Grade Chinese Immersion Program next year. If you have any questions, please review all the information on CSD's website on School Choice or email Ms. Griffith at Renee.Griffith@colonial.k12.de.us or Ahtiya Johnson, School Choice Specialist at Ahtiya.Johnson@colonial.k12.de.us.
Mrs. Robinson would like to remind everyone that there is a stomach bug going around. Please keep your child home if they are showing any symptoms like fever, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.
