Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
February 13th -17th
Hello Hamilton Families,
What a nice weekend we have had! I hope everyone took the chance to put away the screens and enjoy some time outside! With all the access to phones, tablets, T.V. 's we still need to remember that our kids need the opportunity to play outside and be active at least 60 minutes a day. There are so many social skills learned during play time that help kids with problem solving, self regulation and physical health.

Hamilton will host Kindergarten Kickstart on March 9, 2023, at 1 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the curriculum, meet the staff and review enrollment options. Let us show you why great futures start right here. For more information, visit www.wwcsd.net/kickstart. You will also have the opportunity to learn about our Young 5s program. Please share this information with your friends and family who have a child who will be 5 by December 1, 2023
You can help reinforce literacy in the next generation and ensure students develop a lifelong love of reading. All it takes is 30 minutes of your time with a class at one of our participating schools. Call 734-419-2084 for more information or sign up here today: https://bit.ly/WWCelebrityReaders
Please remember that we do not allow dogs of any kind on school property. We had a student knocked down last week by an excited dog. Even though the dog wasn’t trying to hurt her, accidents still happen. Please leave your dog at home or in your vehicle when you pick your child up from school.
We have started our next PBIS Spotlight behavior cycle. This cycles spotlight behavior is “Staying Focused”. We are working on staying focused on our own work and responsibilities, tuning out distractions and worrying about ourselves. We are seeing a trend in students focused on what others are doing rather than on what they need to be doing to complete their own work and follow expectations. Talk to your child about ways they can stay focused at school and at home.
Monday our students will practice the first safety drill of the year. Formerly this drill was called a lockdown drill. We no longer just lockdown and shelter in place. Our staff has been trained in the ALICE method and will begin teaching the students in age appropriate lessons the procedure for safety drills and what to do if there was ever a safety crisis. Your child may come home with some questions or just want to talk about the drill practice. If you have any questions or need tips on how to talk to your child about this, please feel free to reach out to me.
Please continue to check our district website for resources and information. Along with our Hamilton website, which includes the calendar for the upcoming school year.
