A Message from the Director

Thank you everyone for joining us at our Spring Concert last Thursday! The performances from all groups were outstanding and the directors cannot express our gratitude enough to the Seniors who performed for the last time. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of the MGJ jOURney.

We’re one week closer to the end of what has been a tremendous year for the Jaguar Band. Though the school year is winding down, everyone in the band hall, students and staff alike are revving up for what promises to be an amazing Fall season because it’s time for Spring Training! Spring Training is mandatory for all members of the band (winds, percussion and guard). We’ll be using this time to learn as much of the show music as we can before we close out the school year.

Please make sure that all concert attire in your possession is returned to JHS by Thursday, May 18th. Dresses can be washed on cold and hung to dry. Tuxedos and the white shirt must be dry cleaned. Please keep them in the bag from the dry cleaners and hang the garment bag on the hangar from the cleaners. Thank you for helping make sure these uniforms can be stored properly for the Summer.

Our crowd-sourcing GroupFund fundraiser continues! Please take a moment to help spread the word via text or social media. Remember what we shared at our last booster meeting, this fundraiser is KEY to our success in ensuring that the quality of our designer meets the quality of the music arranger and drill writer that we have already hired! We greatly appreciate your efforts in helping the Jaguar Band reach its goal and that this fall's production is just as amazing as years past!

Graduation Band is coming up quickly! This is required for students in the 23-24 Wind Ensemble and is open to ANY returning band member who would like to perform at graduation. Rehearsal for Graduation Band will be on Tuesday, May 23rd from 1:30-3:30.

Thanks again for all that you do to help make our program vibrant and successful! It truly takes a village. Keep an eye on our calendar and social media for upcoming events. We’re excited to pack the gym on Saturday and present a small taste of “Long Live the King(s)!” As always, “it’s a great day to be a Jaguar!”

Service Hours

Service hour logs are due April 11, 2023. There is a drop off slot in the band hall. Or they can email a digital copy to banquet@johnsonbands.com. The JHS Band Boosters have created a form for band students to track their band volunteer service hours. (Click the previous sentence to link to the form.) This form is similar to what is used by other organizations such as the NHS and puts control of volunteer service hours tracking in the students hands. Students should print and use this to log for all band related volunteer service hours and ensure completion of all fields including supervisor signature. Parents signatures are not accepted. Follow all details on the form to turn in the logs in the spring to be considered for Band Student Service Awards at the Band Banquet or for logging volunteer service for Letterman Jacket points. Any questions, contact banquet@johnsonbands.com or secretary@johnsonbands.com. This form should be used for all hours since the Band Banquet last spring. Multiple forms may be submitted to track all of your volunteer service.
