Rope A Great Tale!

Fairy Tale Rodeo

In January, the library kicks off the annual Fairy Tale Rodeo with second grade.

At the kick-off, students are encouraged to read 20 fairy tales. Ten of the tales are traditional fairy tales while the other 10 are a fractured Texas version of the tale. Each class is provided a set of all 20 titles to read at school. In February, students take a test over all 20 books and those with the four top scores from each class are invited to compete in the Rodeo. The Rodeo will take place on Friday, February 20th.

To see a list of the titles, learn more about fractured fairy tales, or print tracking sheets, visit our Fairy Tale Rodeo Libguide.

Skype Visit with Kate Messner

After reading her book, All the Answers, students in the Digital Book Club had a chance to ask questions they had to know the answers to the author Kate Messner.

Students in grades K-2 participated in a variety of iPad activities all month long. From researching facts in PebbleGo to sharing information on a Popplet, students gave the library iPads quite a workout.
