A Newsletter for Beaverton School District Employees
IRS Form 1095-C now available on Employee Online Services
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 2018 IRS forms 1095-C and 1095-B
The IRS form Form 1095-C Employer-Provided Health Care Insurance Offer and Coverage is required for all employers who employ more than 50 full time employees. The form provides information that the employee was offered group health insurance and which months in 2018 the coverage was offered. This form is now available on Employee Online Services. This form also needs to be mailed to employees as per IRS guidelines before March 4, 2019.
In addition, all health insurance companies are required to provide IRS Form 1095-B Health Coverage to covered employees and their covered dependents to show which months in 2018 the employee had group health insurance coverage. This form is required to be sent to you annually by your health insurance carrier (Kaiser or Regence). Kaiser and Regence have mailed these forms out to covered employees. Please contact your health insurance carrier directly if you did not receive your form or, if you see an error on the form.
These forms are required under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and employees will use the 1095-B form as they prepare their 2018 federal tax return. These forms do not need to be submitted with your taxes; you will keep these forms with your tax records.
Click for more information about the Form 1095-C.
Data Privacy
School districts and states across the country are doing more to increase protection of the data we collect and store. Beaverton is one of the consortium members and is a leader among districts in Oregon.
There are 22 states that have joined the Privacy Alliance. The goal is to have standard privacy agreements that districts can require vendors to follow.
When new software or applications are requested, the vendor will have to sign the data privacy agreement.
A new ticket type will be created in the HelpDesk system to start the process of vendors being confirmed as meeting the district standards for curriculum, login and data privacy. This ticket type can be found by selecting IT -> Applications and Software -> New Application or Software Request
Known Bad Passwords
BSD systems will be blocking the use of passwords that are known to be compromised. These listed are gathered by Microsoft and other organizations. This list will now be enforced when users change their passwords.

February is CTE Month
A CTE Program of Study is a sequence of courses, aligned to industry standards at the secondary and post-secondary level, that integrates technical and career skills with academic content. CTE teachers prepare students for further education and training or direct job placement, by collaborating with industry and community college partners to provide hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for high-wage and high-demand occupations. All of our programs work to develop employability/soft skills and engage students in career-related learning activities. Many of our programs offer students the opportunity to earn industry credentials or dual credit or participate in leadership opportunities through Career and Technical Student Organizations.
CTE teachers in the BSD contribute to our students’ graduation rates and college and career readiness:
- The 2016-17 graduation rate for BSD students who earned one or more credits in a technical skill-based course as part of an Oregon state-approved CTE program was 98.5% compared to 86.4% for all BSD students.
Please take a moment to congratulate a CTE teacher or student in your school or community!
The Beaverton School District is now enrolling for Kindergarten at all elementary schools for the 2019-2020 school year.
Any child who will be five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2019 is now eligible to enroll for Kindergarten at their designated home school. Online Registration is available for new student enrollment. After the online application has been submitted families will want to schedule a visit to their child's school, prior to the first day of their attending. This visit is important as they may receive school-specific forms to complete. Parents/guardians will need to provide a birth certificate and immunization record at the time of enrollment.
Each elementary school will offer parents an opportunity to find out more about the kindergarten program at their spring Kindergarten information events.
Please check with neighborhood schools to see when the event is scheduled.
If you are uncertain about which elementary school is the home school, families can check any address to see what elementary, middle or high school attendance boundary it is located in using the District Address Locator or call 503-356-4500.
For more information on registering for Kindergarten, including a list of
2019-2020 Kindergarten Orientation Dates, Immunization Requirements and much more, please visit the Kindergarten Information webpage.
