Becoming a Connected Educator.
21st Century Skills and you......
Everyone keeps talking about these 21st century learning skills that our students are supposed to be developing throughout their education. But,,,, how can we teach them if we haven't even developed them?? And what exactly are they?
Partnership for 21st Century Skills describe them as a set of abilities that students need to develop in order to succeed in the information age.
They break it down into 3 types:
Learning Skills
- Critical Thinking
- Creative Thinking
- Collaborating
- Communicating
Literacy Skills
- Information Literacy
- Media Literacy
- Technology Literacy
Life Skills
- Flexibility
- Initiative
- Social Skills
- Productivity
- Leadership
But what do these skills mean, and how are we going to master them so that we can prepare our students with a 21st Century learning environment!
