In kindergarten we are having so much fun exploring our latest unit of purposeful play: Communities! In reading we have been using nonfiction texts to learn more about community helpers and transportation. In centers, we have exploring restaurant management, postal service-collection and delivery, and construction of entire towns! We have been very fortunate to have several guests visit kindergarten including police officers (Thank you Officer Moffett), food services (Thank you Mrs. Romeo) , and a local pizzeria (Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Rosenthal)!

We have also had fun incorporating science into our classrooms by experimenting with color mixing and learning about rainbows. We woke our animals up out of hibernation and we are ready to welcome spring!!

Thank you Sea Otter Savvy biologists Heather Barrett and founder/senior scientist Gena Bentall for zooming w/our bobcats on March 24. It was the perfect conclusion to our 1S1B celebration of "Odder" by Katherine Applegate! We are OTTERLY thankful for your expertise and awareness training on how to protect the cutest grizzlies of the sea! Always remember #respectthenap.

All of our bobcats were treated to a surprise virtual visit from children's best-selling author, Doreen Cronin. Each 45 minute session included when she became an author (1st grade), a read aloud, and a Q&A session. We loved learning about the inspiration behind Farmer Brown. Click, Clack, MOO!!! 🐮🐷🦆🐔

Congratulations to our three teams of 4th and 5th grade students that participated in this year's Reading Olympics at Central Middle School. We're so proud of our Bobcat Booksters, Book Bobcats, and Bobcat Bunch who worked collaboratively and read their hearts out!
