FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Bauer Parents,
Thank you for a great first week of school! Our teachers have been very busy engaging students in team/culture building activities this week and practicing routines around the building. I'm so proud of our teachers and how hard they work, but also how they prioritize relationships with and amongst their students. As we ramp up this year, please make sure that your child/children have good sleeping habits, and especially monitor device usage as bedtime approaches. When students are well rested they'll have more stamina for the learning we ask them to engage in here at school.
Each year as we return to school there are hiccups with traffic and transportation. I apologize that some of our buses have run late and caused you to worry. In the coming days you should see routes normalize as drivers and students become more familiar with the process. As for pick-up and drop off, pick-up has gone very well but some of the afternoon traffic is building up and spilling over into the road. We do have fewer parent pick-ups this year but we still have a small lot which causes issues at times. If you notice that when you arrive you are needing to idle on the side of 48th St., please note the time and just plan to arrive 3-5 minutes later. This small delay in arrival will make a world of difference and keep everyone safer along 48th St. As a general rule, our youngest students get outside later so please time your arrival accordingly.
Have a nice long weekend everyone! We look forward to another great week next week.

- Doors open at 8:35 am. Do not arrive to the parking lot before 8:33 am.
- All students will enter the building upon arrival between 8:35 am - 8:45 am and head straight to their classrooms each day. No morning "recess" outside.
- Drive into the south parking lot making two lines and zipper merge once you reach the end of the straightaway. See the building map here.
- The drop off zone will be marked with cones. Please pull all the way to the unloading zone or up to the car in front of you.
- All students will exit the cars on the PASSENGER'S side of the car in the unloading zone. (Do not allow students to exit the car on the driver's side for safety reasons!)
- Staff will be ready and waiting to help all kids get into the school and to the correct classroom.
- Parents must remain in their vehicles.
- Do not pass cars in the car line. Stay in a single file line until the cars move in front of you.
Tips to Keep Our Line Moving:
Say your goodbyes and give kisses prior to dropping off in the car line.
Have backpacks/supplies ready to exit car with students.
PICKUP PROCEDURES
- Please do not arrive to the parking lot before 3:35 pm. Students will start being released around 3:40 pm.
- Place a sign on your passenger side dashboard or window with the LAST name of your student(s).
- All students will enter vehicles on the passenger's side.
Please be patient for the first few weeks of school. Last year we found that things moved really smoothly once students, staff, and families got used to the process.
