Kindergarten Update

Last Week's Fun...
*The sight words "it," "in," and "did" were introduced.
*We practiced matching beginning sounds.
*The reading comprehension strategy of "making predictions" was introduced.
*We learned about nonfiction text structure (specifically, diagrams with labels).
*We continued to discuss expected behaviors for Writer's Workshop and participated in writing.
*Topic 3 of our math series was continued (counting, reading, and writing numbers 6-10).
*We did apple investigations with our third grade buddies from Mrs. Haas's class!

This Week's Fun...
*The sight words "yes" and "no" will be introduced.
*We'll practice isolating and listening for beginning sounds.
*The vocabulary strategy of determining word relationships will be introduced.
*The reading comprehension strategy of determining the main idea and details in a story will be introduced.
*We will finish Topic 3 in math and begin Topic 4 which will focus on comparing and ordering numbers 0-10.

*Tuesday, October 20: Doughnuts for Dad 7:30-8:30 (last names A-M).
*Wednesday, October 21: Doughnuts for Dad 7:30-8:30 (last names N-Z).
