Weston School Day: 8:45-3:35

It has been bit of a rocky start getting all the kids back and settled in but we are beginning to get most things smoothed out. One of our biggest hurdles is lack of staff. From bus drivers to para pros and lunch monitors we are truly running on a skeleton crew with many job postings going without applicants. If you or anyone you know is interested in working for the school district please reach out to learn of open positions available.

At Weston we promote good behavior and follow the Bee Code. We strive to always be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. We have daily announcements and reminders to follow the Bee Code. Please continue to reinforce the Bee Code at home as well.

This coming week we get to celebrate Kearsley Homecoming with spirit week, the parade, football game, crowning of a queen and the whole nine yards. It's going to be a fun week at Weston! See information later in this newsletter for ways you can be involved in Kearsley's Homecoming.

We are also hard at work planning for a fun family Harvest Fest celebration complete with Trunk or Treating, hay rides and games on October 28th for our Kearsley Community. Stay tuned on details coming soon.

We will hold a Homecoming parade this year following the traditional route from the old Paro elementary school down Genesee Rd. to Hillcrest and then up Hillcrest to the HIgh School.

Parade is scheduled to begin at 5pm.

We are also resurrecting the Community Tailgate Party in the parking area by the pool entrance adjacent to the tennis courts at Kearsley High School. The party will be after the parade and wrap up prior to football kick-off at 7pm. The menu will be hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, etc...usual picnic fair. The price is $5.00 per adult, $3.00 for school age kids, non school age kids are free and a cap of $20.00 per family.

All community members are welcome!

The Hornets of Kearsley take on the Tigers of Fenton at 7pm at C.K. Richards field.

Go Hornets!

Our PTO pizza fundraiser has begun! The money raised from this fundraiser goes directly to activities and items for our students at Weston. The pizza kit fundraiser forms are due back to school on October 15th.

You MUST use our Weston car loop to drop student off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon. Please do not walk students into the building in the morning unless you have an appointment with school staff. Both our arrival and dismissal lines have been moving quicker each day. We appreciate your patience as we worked out the bugs and got into a routine.

If you need to pick your child up early from school or meet with school staff, we ask that you please give us a call. You can call the Weston office at (810)591-8483. Should you need to drop-in for any reason, you must report directly to the main office.

If last year taught us anything, it's the importance of students being face to face with teachers on a regular basis. Did you know that missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason - excused, unexcused absences and suspensions, can can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating high school?

It is our policy that students be in attendance and on time at least 90% of the time.

Should your child need to be absent, we ask that you call school to verify the absence (810)591-8483. For the absence to be considered "medical" we will need a doctor's note.
