- This is another video that helps students navigate through their courses: Elementary Students: How to Open a PreTest
- Lastly, here is a short video that walks you through some online resources including our BUE website, CDLS Genius Dashboard, and the BUZZ learning platform. VIDEO LINK
Most of the resources can also be found on our website at: http://bue.garfield16.org/. We add to our website all the time so check it frequently for more information.

Breakfast and Lunch for online learners
One form must be submitted for each student in household that would like meals.
Pickup for meals will be at the School Based Family Resource Center on Monday's from 9:30 am - 11:30 am.
Parents / Guardians can only order for an ENROLLED STUDENT. Households must order by Thursday the week before Monday pickup. Only orders submitted will be filled. Missing more than two pickups will jeopardize the households eligibility for this program.
You do not have to order for every student in your home. For example, you have three (3) students but only one (1) student would like meals, only enter for that one (1) student. If all three (3) students would like a meal, you will enter the information for all three (3) students. Each parent / guardian must ENROLL their own student(s). People are NOT allowed to enroll their neighbor, cousin, nephew/niece, etc.
Only parents or guardians may enroll their children. If you have questions contact Jody Williams at jwilliams@garfield16.org or 970-285-5705 x4180.
PLEASE USE THE GOOGLE FORM LINK BELOW TO REQUEST MEALS
You must submit a request for meals on Thursdays by 10 a.m.
in order to pick up meals on Mondays

Helpful Information for Online Learning
FINDING SUCCESS WITH YOUR STUDENT'S ONLINE LEARNING
Remote learning can be rewarding, and sometimes challenging. It offers families a little more flexibility, but also comes with more family responsibility. Parents and students will need to learn new technical skills, and draw on CRISP habits, like responsibility and perseverance, in order to succeed. When students attend BUE in person they have a teacher who helps them with logging into their computer, checking email, troubleshooting tech issues, and supporting them with their literacy and math work. Parents take on this role during online learning, and sometimes that can be more complicated and time consuming than expected. Here are some ways to help your child:
HELP YOUR CHILD WITH TECHNOLOGY:
- Most elementary students do not have the tech skills they need to be successful in online learning.
- Log-in to your child's computer and become familiar with their applications.
- Learn how to use all the programs starting with email, Google Docs, the CDLS Website and the BUZZ learning curriculum (which is the same curriculum for all students).
- Watch instructional videos that are included in our newsletters, posted on our website, and .
MAKE A SCHEDULE TO SUPPORT LEARNING AND HEALTHY BREAKS:
- Make a school schedule and stick with it.
- Most kids are used to having a schedule for the school day, so recreating something similar at home can ease the transition to a different learning environment.
MAKE TIME FOR LEARNING:
- The general rule of thumb for student learning is 10 minutes per grade level a time, and then a break is needed.
- For example, most 2nd graders can focus for about 20 minutes at a time and then they need a movement break.
BUILD IN BREAKS:
- Traditional school programs incorporate some sort of recess or outdoor time, and a work from home schedule should be no different. Outside time and fresh air has huge physical and mental health benefits.
DOWNTIME IS YOUR FRIEND:
- Downtime, or time for kids to work and play independently, is very important.
- Kids also need time to "disconnect" every day and still be kids.
- To help you child with this, set a timer to remind yourself and them to put away the technology and go outside, play quietly in their room, do a puzzle, draw a picture, etc. Ensure this is time when they are NOT connected to technology.
DO YOUR BEST, DON'T STRESS, AND ASK FOR HELP:
- Let your child know this is new and that they do not have to be perfect and that it is ok to ask for help
- Reach out to your child's teacher with questions or concerns
Attendance Matters
Students participating in online are part of BUE and attendance matters! BUE students who are online learning will need to log into their math and literacy courses every school day, Tuesday through Friday, according to our school calendar. As with students who are in person learning, we have 3 additional contact days on Mondays this fall - Sept 14, Oct 12, and Dec 7. It does not matter when you log in, but you must log in to both math and literacy each day.
BUE will be able to see if you have logged in our not, and this is how we take attendance. If you only log in for 1 course, your attendance will be marked as 1/2 day. If you log in for both math and literacy, your attendance will be marked as 1 full day. Repeated partial attendance or lack of attendance will require a meeting with Mrs. Clark or Mrs. Frees to discuss attendance during online learning.
Please contact the BUE office if you have any questions. We will answer the questions we can, and find answers to any questions we do not immediately have an answer for. (970) 285-5703
