Fourth Grade

Winter Centers

Our winter centers are fast approaching! This event will be held on Wednesday at 1:30. Mrs. Barber sent home reminder flyers today. If you signed up to send in items, please send them in ASAP!

We are also doing a crazy sock exchange. Don't forget to send yours in! I am sure we'll have a great time.

Graded Papers

We are winding down the quarter, and I have been grading, grading, and more grading! Graded papers have been sent home; please review them, sign and return. I have a few more things to grade, but most assignments have been completed.

Relay for Life - Hat Day

Our Relay for Life group is having hat day on Wednesday - bring a dollar, wear a hat!

Colonies Living Museum

We have been working hard the last few weeks on our colonies presentations. I am planning on having the students present their speeches and posters (which they are working on in groups) on Thursday afternoon from 2:00 - 2:45. Parents are welcome to come see the living museum.

Costumes and props are not required, but can be fun to use. We have been discussing ideas to use for dressing up/using items to aid in our presentation without going to buy anything. For example, some plastic food that some children might have could be brought in as a prop to illustrate crops/foods grown and eaten in the different colony groups.

Milestones Scores

Students were given Milestones score reports (3 pages, plus a school letter) the week I was sick. From what I understand, all students had reports except two because they did not attend Sawnee last year. Please let me know if you have not seen these scores come home.

The county is offering sessions to help parents better understand the test and score reports, the dates and times of which are on the parent letter.

Welcome to Milestones, a free online collection of videos aimed at helping parents understand grade-level expectations in grades K-8. Milestones show students demonstrating what success looks like in reading, writing and math, grade by grade. Choose a grade below to get started. This site helps show parents what success looks like at grade level. It is not associated with the Georgia Milestones.

This site shows parents to search by state, grade and subject to find Common Core homework support resources.
