Halloween at VES

As Halloween approaches, we would like to inform you of upcoming activities in which your children are welcomed to participate. On Wednesday, October 31st, we will hold our annual interactive Halloween Harvest Readers’ Theater Assemblies! VES students will be entertained by several teachers , staff members and Ms. Lacy as they use their silliest voices to read Halloween stories. Each class will also contribute to a collaboratively written story and enjoy it during a fun, large group read aloud!

Halloween parties will also take place on October 31st in every classroom. Parties will be planned, facilitated and attended by room parents and their designees only. Designated parent participants are required to check in at the front door sign-in station upon arrival.

Students are welcome to wear costumes for their class parties. We ask that children carry their costumes to school in a bag. Teachers will arrange for students to change into their costumes just before their class parties begin. Costumes should be quick and easy to change into and be free of props or difficult make-up applications. Your child’s teacher(s) and room parents will provide classroom party details.

Alternative activities will be available for students not participating in Halloween activities. Just let your child's teacher know so we can plan accordingly. Thank you for your support and cooperation in making Halloween organized, safe, and fun for everyone!

Once again, Village Elementary School students will be participating in Trick or Treat for UNICEF. They will be learning how UNICEF supports children around the world and will be given boxes for their collection. Last year we raised more than $3000. Please help support this effort. Our Peer Partners will have the important job of collecting and counting all of the money that VES raises.

Schools will be closed November 7-9. On November 7, teachers will be participating in professional development. November 8-9 are reserved for the annual NJEA Convention. Please mark your calendars!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

November 15, 16, 19, and 20 are reserved for Parent/Teacher conferences. Your child's classroom teacher(s) will communicate available times directly with you. Teachers will work to coordinate a mutually convenient time. In order to accommodate conferences, school will dismiss at 1:30 (Parent pick up will begin at 1:15). Lunch will be served each day.

There will also be an early dismissal on Wednesday, November 21 to begin Fall Recess.

Young Scholars Institute Fundraiser

Village School students will be participating in our annual service learning project to support the Young Scholars Institute. Young Scholars Institute is a community-based support and mentoring program for students in Trenton. This fundraising project will begin in late November. You will receive more information from your child's teacher in the coming weeks.
