Lions Lines Updates, August 27, 2021

Hi Parents,

We had a great first week of school. You should be proud of your Lions as I am seeing many great things in the classrooms so early in the school year. A few notes:

Please take a moment to review car rider procedures. Our Lions need to be in the building ready to begin the day by 8:40. Also, please label water bottles, lunch boxes, and jackets. Lost items are starting to accumulate.

Have a great weekend!

Science Donations

Thank you to the families that have donated to our Science supply! We are still in need of some things if you can donate. See Sign Up Genius here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090a4baaad2ca13-hamilton

3rd & 5th Grade Parents

3rd and 5th grade parents! Our Nature Trails field trip is coming up in October. The activities at Nature Trails have been revamped. If you would like to volunteer to help at Nature Trails you will need to be trained (or retrained if you were trained in the past). You can volunteer to go 1 day or 2, we will need at least 4 volunteers for 3rd grade each day, and 3-5 for 5th grade each day, but we welcome all volunteers if we have more! (See training info below)

Science Demo Volunteers

Students participate in Science Demos throughout the year that are presented by parent volunteers. If you are interested in presenting, see the training dates attached. If you have been trained in the past, you do not need to be trained for these again.

Library News

Students will start coming to the library next week with their reading teacher for library orientation and then begin checking out books. Students are expected to bring the book back the following week in order to check out a new one. If the book is lost or damaged, please contact our librarian at jennifer.lucas@cfisd.net so the replacement cost can be put on the School Cash account. We are so excited to have our Lions back in the library!

Birthday Books

The Birthday Book Club is an optional fundraiser for the library. By making a $20 donation to the library on School Cash by September 13th, your child will be invited to the Birthday Book Party in the library office. They will select a brand new pre-purchased library book, and a sticker with their name will be placed inside! They will be the first to check out the book and may borrow it for up to 2 weeks. Once it's returned, other students may check it out and will be able to see who donated it to the library. See the PDF for more information. Please turn in the form to the library once payment has been made. No matter when the birthday is during the year, NOW is the time to order a Birthday Book so students can enjoy them all year long!

Volunteers!

We will need plenty of volunteers to keep the library running smoothly (student check in & out, Birthday Book Party, Name That Book Club, & more) and for the in-person Book Fair November 8-12. Be sure to sign up as a library volunteer in PTO Manager in order to receive information coming soon!

NAME THAT BOOK IS BACK!

This year, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who LOVE to read may once again participate in the district's Name That Book program. Student will learn more about this towards the end of September, but they may start reading from the 100 books NOW! Check out the attached list, or find it on the district website or library homepage.

1:1 Devices & Passwords

ALL parents need to electronically sign the Agreement Form in School Cash acknowledging they have a district-issued device issued since the spring of 2020. You will NOT be charged for signing the form. If you do not have a device, sign the form and one will be delivered to campus for your student. Once it arrives, it will be given to the student if the form on School Cash has been signed.

If students have problems with their district issued Chromebook, please report the problem in HappyFox to have the problem resolved quickly. HappyFox can be accessed from any device with an internet connection (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.). Refer to directions for additional assistance.

Passwords

Students must be able to log into the Chromebook with the username and password independently. If the password is forgotten, students have the ability to change their own passwords using stugo.cfisd.net. Please refer to the HappyFox PDF for password help.
