Clever R-V School District

September, 2021

Clever Family:

We are off to a great start in 2021-22! I have had multiple opportunities to visit classrooms on both campuses and good things are happening. Teachers and their students are collaborating with each other in an effort to address priority standards on a daily basis. It has been inspiring to see what they are doing. I am certain this will continue.

As we go through this school year, our teachers will be taking a closer look at student data. We want to be able to meet our students where they are and move them forward. A conscious effort will be made to utilize Professional Development Days in this regard. Our goal is consistent improvement in teaching and in learning.

Be sure to note the dates for upcoming parent/teacher conferences. We look forward to discussing your students' progress with you.

Thank you for your continued support of our district and the great kids that fill our classrooms.

September is suicide prevention month, and our counselors have created a newsletter with valuable information, links, and resources. (Counselor Connection) Please take some time to read it. We all need to do everything we can to offer help and hope.

Our counselors are also presenting a Signs of Suicide Prevention Meeting on September 30 at 7:00 pm. The meeting will be held in the Clever High School Performing Arts Center, and is open to everyone.

We are all certainly ready for COVID-19 to sail off into the sunset, but it hasn't made an exit yet. With the school district, local health departments, and Clever families working together, our numbers have stayed fairly low. We encourage everyone to continue to be vigilant. Perform daily wellness checks, and keep students home if they are not feeling well. Practice good hygiene. Stay socially distanced when possible.

Information on our COVID-19 protocols can be found on our website, under the COVID-19 heading. There you will also find our COVID-19 dashboard. The dashboard contains the number and percentage of quarantine-related absences for each building, and it is updated weekly.

The Clever School District is implementing a new student information system. By now you should have received an email regarding the Lumen Parent Portal. If you have not received that email, please contact your child's office.

Once you have received the Lumen email, it's important to log in and fill out the Student Registration Info. There are a few forms to complete, including the Student Update Form which allows you to verify and/or change your emergency contact information. For your child's safety, it's imperative that their emergency contact information is up to date.

Even though the free breakfast/lunch program for all students has been extended for this school year, it is important to continue to fill out free/reduced meal applications. Not only are some state and federal programs affected by a school's free/reduced numbers, but students may be eligible to receive scholarships, tuition assistance, and other benefits.

To apply, print the application found here.
