Next Chance to Dine for a Cause

Big picture

How does your support help GG?

Have dinner for Goodness Grows on April 28!

Head to Boardman for dinner at Chipotle (near Target) on Sunday, April 28th between 4-8pm. The more supporters we have, the more GG benefits – by 33% of all supporters’ sales! (And, we need $300 in total sales in order to receive a check.)

"Do's" of making dinner count:

Do show the cashier a digital or paper flyer prior to paying.

Flyer-free? Do mention fundraiser to cashier prior to paying.

Do pay in store - online orders will not be included in the fundraiser total.

Do have a great time dining with your friends and family!

"Dont's" of making dinner count:

Don’t order online - online orders will not be included in the fundraiser total.

Don’t hand out flyers in or around the restaurant - may lead to fundraiser being cancelled.

Don’t alter the flyer in any way.

Don’t be shy! Make sure you tell the cashier you’re attending the fundraiser before you pay.

Don’t purchase a gift card - gift card purchases during fundraisers do NOT count towards total donated sales, but purchases made with an existing gift card will count.

Thank you for all your support!!!

All money raised by GG - through fundraisers, jam and craft sales, CSA subscriptions, donations, and our work as a vocational habilitation provider - stays right here to fund our work at our property and in the community. These funds allow us to purchase garden supplies, upgrade and replace tools, build new raised beds, invest in new projects, spend time volunteering here and off-site, and so much more! Your support makes a difference in many lives, as it allows area schools to bring classrooms here for job site experience and mission groups to come here to learn and have new adventures. Whether you volunteer, buy jam, join the CSA, attend a fundraiser, or help get the word out about all we do here, you are appreciated!

Spring Brings Classrooms!

The weather is getting better, robins are out, new growth is evident and our classroom friends have returned! We love springtime at Goodness Grows! We're lucky to have four schools working with us this season - Crestview, Leetonia, Mohawk, and Salem. These kids, teachers, and staff members are truly fantastic. Tuesday through Friday, groups are out here, working hard, having fun, and brimming with enthusiasm. So far this year, they have built up new areas for flower beds, helped with a drain pipe, worked in the raised beds and warehouse, created birdhouses from gourds, planted two peach trees...the list goes on! Each day brings laughter and new experiences for all.

Fun Last Month at BJ's

A great big THANK YOU to all who helped make our fundraiser at BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse so much fun! It means a lot to us that you took time out of your day to "dine for a cause" in Boardman to support our program! We also tremendously appreciate all of you who helped spread the word and those who sent in donations because you wanted to attend but couldn't. Of course, the evening couldn't have happened without the fabulous staff and management of the restaurant! Aren't businesses that support local organizations just terrific!?! We encourage you to support those bighearted businesses!

Jungle Jam Contest Winner!

We held a contest on Facebook at BJ's to win two jars of our Canfield Fair Award Winning Jungle Jam. Everyone who snapped a pic with their flyer and their meal and posted it that night on Facebook was entered into a drawing. Then, on Thursday, we posted a video of our president, Kitty Kromer, holding the pot of entries while Tori, one of our GG folks, pulled out the name. The very lucky winner was Mr. Aaron Zavadil! Congratulations, Aaron! Now he gets to contact us to choose his two jars to take home and enjoy. Thank you to all who participated.

A Visit to the Witmer's

We truly have a wonderful community here in northeast Ohio, full of folks who are willing to share their time, talents, and resources! This past Monday, we were able to spend time at the beautiful home of Ralph & Doris Witmer, learning all about purple martins. One of Ralph's hobbies is taking care of and enjoying purple martins, the largest North American swallow. To do this, he has three impressive birdhouses next to his pond. He explained all the ins and outs of attracting these birds and how best to place and care for their homes. It was a fun trip full of useful, interesting information. Thank you so very much to Ralph for generously sharing his knowledge with us. We cannot wait to visit again when the birds are in residence!

Getting Ready for This Fall's Coat & Clothing Giveaway

Doing some spring cleaning? Do you have bags of outgrown clothes joy-riding in the car with you? Bring them here - we'll even help unload your car! We will happily take all items that are clean and in good repair - coats, clothes, hats, scarves, gloves/mittens, boots/shoes, purses/bags, and even small household items. Whatever you think someone else might be able to put to good use! Then, in October, we will assist Common Ground with their Third Annual Coat & Clothing (and more) Giveaway and the doors will be open for anyone in the community to come take what they need. Donations can be dropped off all year. If no one is around, please leave them under the awning that faces the road. Thank you!
