Dear Parents and Families,
Thank you parents for all your support this year and all of the previous ones! Some of you have volunteered your time and talents, and many of you have supported your children by emphasizing the importance of schoolwork and attendance. The Carlos School staff appreciates all you do for our school and your child.
We appreciate each student for his/her own abilities and personalities. We have spent many hours with your child, and we feel like they are “our kids” as well. We continue to watch them and take pride when they succeed.
We will have some changes next year. I will be retiring and Troy Wunderlich will be replacing me. Carrie Thompson, our reading corps tutor will be leaving us for a new adventure. We wish her the best on her next adventure.
Please stay involved in your child’s education. You are their most important teacher. If you have ideas or concerns, please share them with us.
Consider doing any of the following over the summer to keep your child’s academic skills from slipping:
· Visit the public library on a regular basis.
· Set aside daily time for your child to read. This can include fiction, non-fiction, or lighter reading such as sports pages, comic books, or magazines.
· Encourage your child to write letters to relatives.
· Encourage journaling: vacation places, activities, movie reviews, etc.
· Play cards or counting games.
When they get bored (if they get bored), encourage them to go to one of the school websites. Students have their own login and we have paid for the subscription for the year, so please continue to use it through the summer.
Thanks for all of the positive comments on my retirement. I have been so blessed to be part of this school for the past 14 years. Enjoy your summer, make many treasured memories!
News from the Office
It has been a fun year with your students! Thank you for sharing them with us. I hope you have a wonderful summer with your amazing kids!
The office will be closed Friday June 7 and from June 12 - July 9.
