The Lion's Share
February 8, 2019
Message from the Principal:
I cannot thank our community enough for the hard work of everyone in pulling off our first annual "Family Night: A Trip around the World." Our PTSO had a lofty vision and worked tirelessly to pull off this fun-filled family evening. Additionally the staff and community really stepped up to create this unique, cultural learning event. Thank you so much for everyone that came out to support this evening!
Additionally, this week we re-dedicated our efforts towards educating the "whole child" of our student body. By dedicating time on a monthly basis to teach our students social skills, we can ensure that they are well-prepared for future success.
As always, I feel that it's my job to serve the Settler's Point students and community, so if there is anything I can do, please feel free to reach out to me.
Mr. Bircher

Teacher Requests for 19/20
All of these will need to be emailed to Mr. Bircher by April 1.
First Social Skills Assembly....
The assemblies will be brief and are split into two assemblies, one for K-2 and one for 3-6. The focus of this month's was on "Showing Appreciation." We taught the students why and how showing appreciation is an important life skill, and our Student Council performed skits that demonstrated what it could look like.
We are using the following resource to determine what skills should be taught during these meetings, and to build a common vocabulary with students. Homeroom teachers will select a student at the end of the month that demonstrated the most appreciation to have lunch with the principal and be recognized at our next assembly.
We are excited so excited to see how these will transform our campus.
News from the PTSO:
Apex Remix is coming to our school from 2/19 to 3/1!!
We're so excited to tell you about our only major fundraiser this semester/year, the Apex Remix!
Apex Leadership Co. is a local company and will be on campus for 2 weeks teaching our students about leadership and fitness. During the Apex Remix, students will be challenged to get pledges for the fitness moves they will complete on the event day. Funds raised this year will be used to pay for school updating and technology projects. Please look for more info about the program and ways to support our school as we get closer to the event.
