Baalboden Turned to Ash!
Yes, you heard it folks! Baalboden has been turned to ash! A run-away soldier tells us the insides on what’s been going again. It all starts from two young teens, called Rachel Adams and Logan McEntire, who did not like the rule of Baalboden’s cruel Commander, Commander Chase. This soldier tells us that brave warrior, Ms. Adams and technical genius, Mr. McEntire, planned on trying to find Ms. Adam’s missing father. He was last seen going on a courier mission in the Wasteland, but apparently, je created a device there that controls The Cursed One. This device is something that the Commander of Baalboden wants. Ms. Adams was sent out into the Wasteland, without the protection of Baalboden’s wall, to go and get the Commander the device. Sadly, Mr. McEntire was put into prison for trying to stand up to the Commander. That does not separate Ms. Adams and Mr. McEntire. Mr. McEntire escaped and found Ms. Adams in the Wasteland. They lead The Cursed One, with the device to go and destroy Commander Chase. This ended up failing because The Cursed One was not under their control anymore. The device stopped working. The Cursed One destroyed Baalboden and killed many lives. The coward (Commander Chase) ended up running away. Rowansmark trackers are on the look for Ms. Adams and Mr. McEntire. We want the device. Read our next report to find about who stole Christopher’s Banjo!
Commander Chase (Robert Downey Jr.)
Commander Chase is very cruel. In his eyes, everyone else is beneath him. He knows that he has people who look up to him. I think that people who look up at him and call him their ruler aren’t really helping. This is only boosting the Commanders confidence and self-esteem. That’s also another problem with the Commander. I think that he’s over-confident. He can control The Cursed One so he knows that in some way, he is special...and as much as I hate to admit it, it’s true. This also boosts his self-esteem to the point where he thinks he’s in charge of everything. I choose Robert Downey Jr. I've seen his past movies and I can tell that he’s capable of acting like he owns the place. As Iron Man, he acts as a witty genius. I think that he could use the same method but show it to the point where it looks like he’s over-pleased with himself.
Rachel Elizabeth Adams (Emma Watson)
Rachel Elizabeth Adams is a warrior. She is fighting for her father and Oliver. She wants the Commander to feel the pain she went through. Some character traits of a warrior could be strong, determined and brave. Rachel is strong not only in fighting physically, but because she’s gone through so much. She is still determined to keep going on even though she’s been to the point of almost losing hope. Rachel is also brave. She was ready to enter the Wasteland to find her only family even without the protection from The Cursed One. She also stepped up to the Commander. Even if people thought she wasn’t “normal” she still stuck to her beliefs and dreams. She is a role model. I think that Emma Watson can play Rachel because also of her previous movies. She’s capable of showing that she is determined. Heromine Granger, a character she played in Harry Potter, is also very determined. I think that this will help her play Rachel Adams. Emma Watson is also able to show that she is brave. I also choose her because she has the red hair. It’s not the fiery-red for Rachel but I’m sure it could be made stronger. Maybe Emma can even show us some action as Rachel.
Logan McEntire (Nathaniel Buzolic)
Logan McEntire is a technical genius. He is the king of devices and spy-like things. He reminds me of a spy. He’s greatly talented with creating useful devices. He is also very smart. Logan McEntire always thinks ahead. He has this thing where he thinks about worst-case and best-case scenarios. This is why Logan is someone that I would trust with a plan. He will make sure that he has back-up plans for the worst-case scenarios. Logan is also a hard-worker. He will put in everything he can offer into helping a loved one. For example, he created devices and gadgets for him and Rachel to find Jared and travel the Wasteland safely. He is also a role model. I think that Rachel is also as determined as Rachel. I know that Logan would do anything to achieve his dreams. He’s already leading a rebellion against the Commander. Who knows what else Logan McEntire is capable of? I choose Nathaniel Buzolic because he’s the closest to what I pictured Logan in my mind. He’s got that blonde hair. He is also in a T.V. show I watch. He also looks like he could turn into a technical genius. In the T.V. show I watch, he’s the clever witty one. I think that he could use the same thing when being Logan, since Logan McEntire is so clever. He also looks just fit for Logan.
A Message To The Commander: Listen
I think that this song goes very well with one of the author’s message. I think that the author’s message is to stand up for yourself and your beliefs. If anyone is giving you their opinions on things that irritate you, stand up. I think that this is the author’s message because Rachel and Logan do stand up, with makes them good role models. They do not like what the Commander is doing and they are determined to make a change. They do not like the way he treats others. He treats people like they are lower than him and they worth nothing. For example, after The Cursed Ones first attack, when the Commander sent The Cursed One away, he was going through the city like there were not hurt people on the ground. He even stepped over people who got in the way of his horse. Also, he would not let Rachel and Logan get to their only family left, Rachel's father. He also killed Oliver in front of Rachel. In my opinion, it is right to stand up against the Commander. I think that "Listen" is about standing up for your beliefs and dreams and if someone is doing something that is going over-board with irritating you, you should stand up. In the song "Listen", it says "Oh the time has come for my dreams to be heard. They will not be pushed aside and turned into your own. All cause you won't listen." I think that this has a very good connection with Defiance because I think that Rachel has had enough. I think that after not being able to get to her father, she wants her thoughts and dreams to be heard by the Commander. She wants him to hear her out, obviously. I think that Rachel is fighting for it to be heard that she wants and needs to go on the search with Logan to find her father. The Commander keeps turning her dreams into his own. He's crushing the little hope she has of seeing her father again by telling her she's under his control. This is all because of the Commander not listening to her and Logan. Also, the song is called listen. That itself has a connection to the story. The Commander has done everything but listen to two young adults about how they want to work together to find their only family. Also, in the chorus, it says "I’m not home in my home." Baalboden (one of the two settings) is Rachel's home. It's where she grew up and where she lived. I think that Rachel is at home, but she isn't being accepted there. In your home, you are surrounded by people who accept you for who you are... your family. Since Rachel is taking action against the Commander, she's not "ordinary" or "normal." It's something that not many people have done before or attempted. In the end, she's at home, but not at home. There are many connections with the song to Defiance but I'm going to list two more. "I am alone at a crossroad," is something that Beyonce sings in the song. A crossroad is a road that leads splits into two or more roads. You can go one way or another. Rachel could have gone into the pathway leading her to being a "normal" Baalboden citizen and not stand up to the Commander. Her brave warrior comes out when she chooses the path to stand up for herself, goes on the path she thinks is right for her and stood up to the Commander. This song also says "There is someone in here that I thought had died so long ago." I think that this is talking about hope. To stand up for yourself, you need something that's going to convince you that it's all going to turn out all right...hope. This concept works with Rachel too. When she found out that Oliver and her father had died, it seemed like she had lost hope of getting her life back together. She found hope still by keeping in mind about how the Commander started this all and it's her job to get revenge. The hope inside of her didn't actually die; she just found it in a different way.
Listen by Beyonce
Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start but can't complete
Listen, to the sound from deep within
It's only beginning
To find release
Oh, the time has come
For my dreams to be heard
They will not be pushed aside and turned
Into your own
All cause you won't
Listen
[Chorus:]
Listen, I am alone at a crossroads
I'm not at home, in my own home
And I've tried and tried
To say what's on my mind
You should have known
Oh, now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what you made of me
I followed the voice you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own
You should have listened
There is someone here inside
Someone I'd thought had died
So long ago
Oh, I'm screaming out, and my dreams will be heard
They will not be pushed aside on words
Into your own
All cause you won't
Listen
[Chorus:]
Listen, I am alone at a crossroads
I'm not at home, in my own home
And I've tried and tried
To say what's on my mind
You should have known
Oh, now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what you made of me
I followed the voice you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own
I don't know where I belong
But I'll be moving on
If you don't
If you won't
Listen to the song here in my heart
A melody I start
But I will complete
Oh, now I'm done believing you
You don't know what I'm feeling
I'm more than what you've made of me
I followed the voice you think you gave to me
But now I gotta find my own
My own
