August/September 2021

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! We are excited to see our students back on campus and look forward to a great year of learning!

Please refer back to our monthly newsletters regularly as they are updated as needed.

The Elsanor Student Handbook and the BCBE Student Handbook are posted on our Elsanor Elementary website! Please read them carefully for details regarding board policies and school procedures!

The Elsanor Elementary School playgrounds are ONLY for our students to use during the regular school day where they are supervised by school employees.

Our campus is private property and our playgrounds are not for use after hours, on weekends or on non-school days.

Please make sure you complete the Free & Reduced Lunch form located on the bcbe website. Even though this year, students eat free, this form helps our school get federal monies that are used for instruction and materials. We lose thousands of dollars when parents do not complete the forms. Please consider completing the form regardless of whether or not you think your family will be eligible! Those dollars count for our students.

Please be advised that the BCBE prohibits elementary students from bringing cell phones to school. The first time a student brings one, the parent will be called to pick up the phone. The second time, a discipline referral will be issued.

If a parent has safety concerns and it is extremely urgent that the student have a cell phone to let the parent know they make it home safely, the parent may email Mrs. Charlotte Gray (ckoen@bcbe.org) with those concerns and we will find a solution.

Please see our Facebook page or check your email to receive a link to our Elsanor Events calendar that is updated frequently!

We will celebrate our Grandparents in September by offering an opportunity for them to eat breakfast with their student in our cafeteria. RSVP forms will be sent home on August 23 and need to be completed and returned to the school no later than noon on August 27.

Grandparents may eat breakfast with students in Kindergarten, 1st or 2nd grade on September 16 from 7:15-8:00 am for $2.50 (the cost of the breakfast).

Grandparents may eat breakfast with students in Grades 3-6 on September 17 from 7:15-8:00am for $2.50.

We will only be taking the correct change - CASH ONLY

The money does not have to be sent in with the RSVP. Just bring it on the day of the event, you can give it to the cashier in the cafeteria when you go through the breakfast line.

We do not include PreK students at this time since they are still learning how to be independent learners. They will have other opportunities for visits later in the year.

We ask that Grandparents go straight to the cafeteria when they arrive and that they do not follow the student back to the classroom as teachers begin instruction promptly at 8am.

We will have an area for selfies/photos set up in the cafeteria!
