Cells Test 11/18
Last week in science, we continued the cell unit. The students learned about the Cell Theory, cell parts, and the difference between plant and animal cells. On Friday the kids started a flip book that covers everything we have learned in this unit. It is my understanding that there are a lot of other projects and assignments in other classes. Therefore, I'm going to go ahead and make the Cell Flip Book due on Tuesday at the end of class. This means if the students can use their class time Monday and Tuesday to finish it. The last assignment for this unit is The Cell Comparison assignment. Again, this will be an in class activity on Wednesday and Thursday. The cell flip book and the comparison assignments should help the kids be prepared for the Cell Test on Friday!
If the kids use their class time wisely this week, there should not be much homework. It wouldn't hurt to do a little studying for the TEST on Friday. There is a study guide on my website.
Reminder: the planner, text book pages, instructional videos, handouts, and copies of the notes can also be found on my website.
The Cell unit is a difficult unit for some students because of the vocabulary terms and some of the concepts presented throughout the unit. My suggestion is for the kids to study for 10 to 15 minutes every night. If they come home saying they don't have homework, they can always do a little studying for Science. The terms and concepts for this week can be found at the bottom of this page. And for the folks that need some study tips, I've created a list of some possible activities to help them learn the material below...
Cell Test December 18th!!
How to study:
1. Teach someone else the concepts
2. Go through the textbook paragraph by paragraph with sticky notes
3. Look at the questions in the text book (at the end of each section and chapter)
4. Repetition of your Cornell notes
5. Re-watch the instructional videos
6. Explore more videos that pertain to the concepts
7. Make a practice test for study-buddy
8. Flash Cards
9. Create Mnemonic devices
10. Ask questions!
