Argyle Middle School's One-Act Play Takes First Place

How about a standing ovation for Argyle Middle School's One-Act Play! AMS earned first place overall at the UIL One-Act Play Middle School Invitational last weekend. In addition, AMS took first place overall for Best Tech Crew. The One-Act Play was These Shining Lives, which they performed last week for the community at AMS.

CX DEBATE...DISTRICT CHAMPS!

The Argyle High School Cross-Examination Debate team won the district title last week! In the process, they qualified multiple Eagles for the UIL state competition in March.


Senior Tristan Ball will be making his fourth consecutive trip to the UIL state competition. Here is the list of the results:

Argyle ISD Celebrates Black History Month

During February, Argyle ISD campuses are celebrating Black History Month. Campuses and libraries are showcasing and celebrating the achievements by African Americans in U.S. history. The photos in the newsletter are featured at Argyle Middle School and included among them is one of famous mathematicians and scientists. Argyle High School counseling department assistant Gloria Hocking (left) and counselor Margo Bigbie are also pictured.

Superintendent Shares Bond Presentations with Staff

Argyle ISD Superintendent Dr. Telena Wright started the process of providing informational bond presentations to the staff and community last Friday. Dr. Wright explained the bond process and bond proposal, developed by the community-led Bond & Growth Planning Committee, to all district employees. She visited the five campuses and answered questions from staff.


The bond election will be held May 7. Early voting begins April 25.

COVID-19 Cases - Reporting & Dashboard

Argyle ISD is providing a COVID-19 dashboard to keep parents, staff, students and the community aware of the positive case totals at the campuses. The dashboard is updated by 6 p.m. each school day. The numbers are based on only cases confirmed through documentation with campus nurses.

School Board Regular Meeting Monday, Feb. 21

The Argyle ISD School Board will hold a regular meeting on Monday, Feb. 21. Meetings are open to the public and the open session begins at 7 p.m. All Board meetings are held at 800 Eagle Drive inside the AISD Board Room.

Meetings include allotted time for public comment. Argyle ISD also provides a live stream of regular meetings available on the district's YouTube channel. Click here to view.

School Board Trustee Application Deadline Friday

Argyle ISD will hold a School Board Election on May 7. Two seats will be on the ballot - Place 6 and Place 7. These places are currently held by Brad Lowry (Place 6) and Jeff Williams (Place 7). The deadline for Trustee applications is Friday, Feb. 18 at 5 p.m. Applications must be submitted to the Argyle ISD administration building, located at 800 Eagle Drive.

STATE BOUND EAGLE - KENNY CHAPMAN

Argyle wrestler Kenny Chapman is headed to the Class 5A state tournament. Chapman qualified for state recently at the Region 2-5A tournament. He finished fourth in the 126-pound weight class. Chapman was one of 12 region qualifiers who competed at the tournament.


The state wrestling tournament will be held Feb. 18-19 at the Berry Center in Cypress. Click here to see the bracket.


The regional qualifiers included: Ashlynn Doyle, Jade Hernandez, Emilia Hernandez, Tenesan Nanna, Collin Griffeth, Kenny Chapman, Logan Murdock, Milton Conner, Cole Murguia Mosley, Connor Smith, Corey Puckett and Trenton Kelly.


Also earning state honors was wrestler Corey Puckett, who was named Academic All-State Second Team.

ROUND TWO: Undefeated Lady Eagles Face Stephenville

The No. 1 state-ranked Lady Eagles (33-0) will face Stephenville tonight in a Class 4A Area Playoff at Weatherford High School. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. The Lady Eagles are coming off an 85-9 victory in the first round against Diamond Hill-Jarvis.

Lady Eagle Softball Opens 2022 Season

The Argyle Lady Eagle softball team, coming off its best season in school history, will open the 2022 season Thursday. The Lady Eagles played two tournament games today in College Station at Veterans Park.
