ENHS Parents:
Final Testing Schedule/Last Days of School:
ENHS students will be dismissed early on both finals testing days in May. On Monday May 23rd, students will be dismissed at 12:55 after taking finals in periods 1, 2, 3 and 4. On Tuesday, May 24th, students will be dismissed at 11:45 after completing finals in periods 5, 6, and 7. Please note that no lunches are served on these final two days of school.
In order to protect the academic integrity of the assessments and to ensure that students are fully prepared for finals, students will not be permitted to take early finals. If a student misses a final, please plan on taking the final when the student is feeling better or when the student returns from vacation. Please schedule trips, vacations, and the like around these two days. I appreciate your cooperation.
School Survey Reflections:
Thank you for taking the time to fill out our school climate survey. In order to continuously improve, we need to reflect on what our community thinks about our practices. I sincerely appreciate your time taking the survey and providing us with honest feedback. I would encourage you to share your concerns with me about our school in a meeting or a phone call. I believe that feedback is a gift so I am comfortable having difficult conversations in a timely manner rather than waiting until the end of the year. I will share the results with the staff. There is plenty to celebrate and things to think about. Thank you.
PreACT and ACT Testing:
I was extremely proud of the focus shown by our 9th, 10th and 11th graders during ACT and Pre-ACT testing day on April 5th. It was clear that our students took the test very seriously and gave the tests their best efforts. Thank you for reinforcing high expectations for the ACT tests and valuing high school and post-secondary education. Your conversations and expectations matter.
Staff Retiring, New Appointments or Leaving ENHS:
On behalf of the staff here at ENHS, I’d like to thank our retiring Industrial Technology teacher Mr. Joe Moylan for his 36 years of service to our students and programs and Biology teacher Mr. Bob Wolf for his 37 years of serving our students. Administrative/Activities Assistant Ms. Mary Lynch is retiring after 27 years with multiple schools and positions. Math teacher Mr. Joe Krontz has accepted the Dean of Students position at ESHS. English teacher Ms. Lise Wagner will be EMS’ Media Specialist. Traveling English teacher Mr. Colton Schneider will return to ESHS full time. AP Calculus teacher Mr. Shaun McMahon will return to EHS full time. Social Studies teacher and Dance sponsor Ms. Abbie Lamb is moving to the Washington, D.C. area. Industrial Technology teacher Eric Burenheide will begin his principalship in Fullerton, Nebraska. Ms. Sherry Dill, Speech/Drama will be teaching middle school English at DC West Middle School. EHS/ENHS School Psych Ms. Kristen Phillips will be a K-12 School Psych for DC West Schools. Ms. Michelle Hartnett, administrative assistant with attendance, is returning to the non-profit sector. Each of you will be missed by our staff and students- a heartfelt thank you for your service.
Post Prom Success:
We had over 420 students attend prom and post prom activities this last weekend. It was an incredible undertaking by our two prom sponsors Ms. Reyne Armbrust and Ms. Tomi Connelly. I am thankful for the hard working Junior Class Board who helped create a prom atmosphere within our building. Incredibly thankful for our Post Prom parents who chaired many of the events: valet parking, food, games, prizes, fundraising, treasury, security, admissions, casino, art gallery, dodgeball and hypnotist. I enjoyed meeting a lot of junior/senior parents throughout the night. Post Prom Chairs Katie Horner and Kristin Polking, thank you for your leadership in providing a safe activity for our students.
Principal’s Summer Schedule:
Parents, your partnership is invaluable to our success as a school district and we are truly fortunate to have such a supportive community. I work the month of June thru July 1 and take three weeks off before I start back again. So if you want to visit with me, email and let me know about coming up to talk with me. Take care, Dan
Academic Intervention Options @ ENHS
Work time with Teachers- Students should set up time before and after school to work 1-on-1 to learn content. This time and date(s) is determined based on the teacher and student’s schedules.
8th Hour- Monday - Thursday from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m., in the media center. The library is staffed by a teacher after school for 1 hour Monday thru Thursday each week. Students that need a quiet space, extra time, and are self-directed find this to be a perfect way to get some things checked off their to-do list before heading home. Students can be assigned by a teacher for missing work or just drop in to take care of business.
Math Help Lab- Monday - Thursday from 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. in G100 breakout area. Any student needing help on Algebra I, Geometry, or Algebra II can drop in for support and assistance.
Science Help Lab- Monday - Friday 7:30 -8:00 a.m. & 3:30 - 4:00 p.m., in the G200 breakout area. Any student needing help on Physical Science or Chemistry can drop in for support and assistance.
Peer Tutoring- See your guidance counselor to sign up for peer-tutoring. ENHS National Honor Society students serve as peer tutors and can tutor before or after school or during your student’s study hall.
After Hours- Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. This assigned intervention for students is the most restrictive academic intervention because students are assigned to attend After Hours because of failing grades or by not turning in multiple homework assignments. Students are assigned by administration or may request to be placed in after hours with administrative approval.

Student absences & appointments
If your student is absent for any doctor, dental or counseling appointments, please have your student bring a note from the provider to bring back to school. We will keep that on file for attendance purposes.
Parents are not required to come into the building to get their student. The office staff will verify the student has been called out, and the student will sign themselves out on the computer in the office and they will meet you at your car or drive themselves to where they need to go.
Thank you so much for your cooperation with this.
