Message from Mrs. Klimpl

Dear Linden Families,

Happy autumn! As we move into cooler weather, please help us to remind your children about wearing light jackets appropriate for outside play during recess and physical education class.

This week parents of our 4th, 5th and 6th grade students received the state PSSA reports from last spring’s assessments. As you are aware, this assessment was the first PSSA to be fully-aligned to the more rigorous PA Core Standards, which the Pa. State Board of Education adopted in September of 2013. Please know that the results of the testing are carefully reviewed by Linden teams, which include classroom teachers, reading specialists, our counselor, school psychologist, and myself. While the PSSA is just one small snapshot of a child’s progress, we diligently plan for any and all supports and services which will both help to remediate any skill deficits, as well as opportunities for continuing to enrich our student’s academic growth. The PSSA results are analyzed and considered within a broader context of classroom based assessments and teacher observations, and all of our students are continuously monitored for the instructional strategies which will be most successful towards developing academic strengths. If you have any questions about PSSA, don’t hesitate to contact me!

We have had a great number of parents completing their necessary certifications and clearances for being a volunteer in our schools. I urge you to consider doing so, in order to be eligible to assist in many exciting classroom projects, clubs, and trips.

Look next week for the invitation letter and schedule for our upcoming Celebrate Education Week, October 12-16. We look forward to having you visit our classrooms and interact with a myriad of learning challenges and celebration

Reminder about your Kidstuff Coupon Book! All ENVELOPES or BOOKS are due by Friday, September 25!

Every student at Linden should have brought home a yellow bag containing a KIDSTUFF COUPON BOOK, as well as all necessary instructions and information. The LHSA is selling these valuable, family friendly books filled with hundreds of national, regional, and local coupons for all ages! This includes stores, restaurants, and places to go!

The KidStuff books cost $25, and for every book Linden sells, we earn 50% or more!. Use just a few coupons and you will easily save more than the cost of the book. Keep it in your car so you have it with you wherever you go!

The instructions are simple:

  • If you want to keep your Kidstuff book, send in to your teacher a check (or cash) for $25 made out to "LHSA" in the white envelope. (Please fill out the necessary information on the envelope). That's all you need to do -- then GO SHOPPING!

  • Family and friends will love saving with KidStuff...great for gifts, too! KidStuff offers 24 editions in 11 states, so even far away relatives can particpate! Your family earns one FREE book for every 5 books you sell! If you sell 5 books, then send to your teacher a check (or cash) made out to "LHSA" in the white envelope (please fill out the necessary information on the envelope). Keep your free book, and the remaining 5 books will be sent home after September 25. If you sell less than 5 books, use the same payment instructions, but include the $25 for your book as well.

  • If you prefer not to participate in this fundraiser, please RETURN the KidStuff book to your teacher before Friday, September 25!

Thank you so much for participating in this fundraiser!
