World Language Proposed Standards
Created Summer 2017~Pierre SD
SD World Language Standards Revisited
Revisions that were proposed include a formal introduction to the world language standards, and provide additional mini-introductions to each of the five key areas identified by the work group. Examples that better connect to the students in South Dakota were added to enhance a stronger relationship between culture, history, and language across the state.
During the 2017-2018 school year, World Language Educators are encouraged to:
- Visit the links provided below
- Compare the current standards and the proposed standards that will be presented to the Board of Education Standards in the fall of 2018.
- Review the proposed standards identifying positive revisions and additional ways to enhance the proposed standards
- Provide feedback using the educator feedback link to assist the work group for future revisions that would occur in the summer of 2018
Educator Feedback Link

Deadline to submit feedback: May 15, 2018
World Language Standards Timeline
During the 2017-2018, remember that only world language educators will be providing feedback to the work group.
Prior to the Four Public Hearings, public feedback will be collected and presented to the Board of Education Standards.
