Aggressive Nutrition Therapy for Pre-Term Infants with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
Janie Clay
Janie C. Clay MSPH, RD, LD received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Hospitality Management from Alabama A&M University (Huntsville, AL). She completed her Master’s of Science in Public Health at Meharry Medical College (Nashville, TN) and Dietetic Internship at Bradley University (Peoria, IL). She began her dietetics career as a Pediatric Pulmonary Dietitian at Children’s of Alabama. She has recently transitioned into her new role as Assistant Nutrition Director for the State of Alabama’s WIC program where she currently facilitates nutrition education, VENA, and other duties related to nutrition services at the State level.
Janie is an active member of the Montgomery District Dietetic Association (MDDA), Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND), and the Public Health/Community Nutrition Practice Group. Her most recent accomplishment includes being awarded Outstanding Abstract at the 2017 Food and Nutrition Conference and Exposition held in Chicago, IL.
A native of Linden, Alabama, Janie currently lives in Montgomery with her husband Jody and dog Luke. She enjoys cooking, crafting, and fishing on the weekends.
Janie will be speaking with us about her research titled "The Effect of Aggressive Nutrition Therapy on Inadequate Weight Gain in Pre- Term Infants with Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia." Janie recently presented this research at the 2017 Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) where she received the "Outstanding Abstract" Award. Her research poster was also featured as a top scoring abstract in the 2017 FNCE tour of posters on Sunday, October 22, 2017.
