Fused Glass Workshop
Pacik Giuliano shared her expertise and craftsmanship during a 2¼ hour workshop and presentation. Sculpture and Foundation Drawing art students will learn about the technology available to contemporary glass artists, future educational opportunities, the role of artists in our community, and the glass industry. Joseph Case High School students’ fused glass work will be on display in the school lobby after the kiln process in late April.
Deenie Pacik Giuliano received her Bachelor in Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After studying glass at the school of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Pacik Giuliano enrolled in several glass internships in the New England area and continued her studies at Pilchuck Glass School. Her commissions include stained glass windows, modern fused glass, and original architectural glass art.

Final reflection: Growth Mindset
For example, since October 14, 2014, I have spent a few minutes almost every day chipping away at Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, a daunting 1275-page novel first published in 1869. I finally finished the book on April 14, 2015. I knew if I could commit at least a few minutes each day that I could make this large undertaking manageable.
The same philosophy is analogous to our high school's expansion of AP courses. I encourage student in Grades 10 and 11 to consider taking at least one AP course next year. Get a taste for a college freshman-level course while you are still in high school. Yes, it will be a difficult course requiring you to work harder than ever before -- but if you are willing to put in the time and effort, your dedicated work will pay off.
I am sharing this growth mindset with Case students and their families next Thursday night. Case High AP Family Night is scheduled for May 7, beginning at 6:30 p.m., in the auditorium. All students who plan to enroll in our expanded AP program are invited to bring their families to this one-hour event, sponsored by Mass Insight Education. This evening is also open to all interested students in grades 8-11 and their families who want to know more about the future of AP at Joseph Case High School.
I'm not sure what challenge is next for me yet. But I am thrilled to give your children to opportunity to grow at Joseph Case High School.
Cheers!
Brian
