Superintendent's Weekly Update - May 6, 2016

Otsego Parents and Community Members:

There is a lot of action tonight on campus. Tonight is the Tim Downey Memorial Track Invitational starting at 4:30. Varsity Softball and Baseball are in action starting at 4:45. Beautiful night for these events. I hope to see you out there!

Did you know 4-H held a contest to send 4 Wood County youth to the Presidential Inaugural Ceremonies in Washington DC next January? Participants had to complete a resume, an essay, and an interview before a panel of judges. Winners were announced this week and we had two Otsego students win!! Congratulations Sarah Cox and Montgomery Alexander!! What an honor!!

I was approached by a firm out of Columbus to hold a Free Public Educational Meeting regarding the Nexus Pipeline - Craig Wilson from Emens & Wolper Law Firm will conduct this meeting. It will be on May 25th at 6 pm in the auditorium. The pipeline seems to be changing course quite often. If you are interested in hearing more information please come out to this meeting. This firm is an advocate for land owners.

I would like to congratulate Abi Martin (5th Grade Student) for receiving a scholarship from the Ohio Association for Gifted Children to attend the Appalachian Festival of Young Voices! She is member of the Children's Choir of Northwest Ohio and they will be traveling to the festival in June. Congratulations Abi!

Congratulations to all of the 7th and 8th grade students who logged their service learning hours from this past year into the Ohio FCCLA Service Learning Portal. Our students volunteered 1,768 hours of the 6,000+ hours volunteered throughout the state. That put our school at the top in the state for volunteering. Great job students! Continuing the hardwork and effort, getting involved in and serving our community will positively impact you the rest of your life!

The Wood County Planning Commission is having their public participation and input meeting soon. If are you interested there is more information in the link. Wood County Land Use Information

The Program does not have provisions for students not wishing to attend field trips. If your child is in attendance on a field trip day they will accompany the Program on the field trip and you will be billed the hourly rate plus fees. Every effort is made to return to the Elementary Building by 4:00 p.m. on field trip days.
