Community Relations Sub-Committee
Our first issue!
As part of our mission, we are looking for ways to communicate more effectively with our community members and stakeholders. We hope you'll take a moment to read our updates and let us know what you think!
This newsletter is a collaborative effort from Denise, Anne and Vanessa. It does not express the views of the full School Committee.

Policy Sub-Committee Update
The past few months have been busy for the Policy Sub-Committee which is comprised of Mary Jane Scofield, Chair, Denise Schultz, and John Jewell. Peter Light is our administration liaison. While we are constantly reviewing the content of the Policy Manual (linked here), the policy that received the most attention over the past few months was the Dress Code policy. The Sub-Committee welcomed the opportunity for parents to provide input to the revised policy at a regularly scheduled meeting, and a Saturday morning meeting. With their help the policy was fine tuned, and presented to the full School Committee on 11/15/2016. The policy will be presented for second reading at the Tuesday, 12/13/2016 School Committee meeting. Once approved, the Dress Code policy will be adopted, and become part of the Policy Manual. Parents are reminded that the Principals set the building based guidelines for dress at their schools.
In the coming months the Sub-Committee will be reviewing policies relating to the new DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) guidelines regarding Opiod Education and Prevention, and Homework.
