Superintendent of Schools
An update from Dr. Brian Harris: March 11, 2020
Dear Barrington 220 Community:
We are continuing to monitor the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) very closely and follow guidance from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Pandemic Plan
As required by Board Policy 4:180 Pandemic Preparedness, Barrington 220 is finalizing a Pandemic Preparedness Plan, which will be available to all district stakeholders next week. This plan includes the use of our Distance Learning Plan, if schools are required to close.
Large Events
At this time Barrington 220 has not canceled any upcoming large public events organized by the school district. However, this may change as we continue to follow recommendations set forth by IDPH, ISBE and the CDC.
Spring Break Travel
At this time we have not canceled any domestic student travel organized by Barrington 220. However, we will make final decisions next week, per guidance from the IDPH, ISBE and CDC.
As a precautionary measure, next week Barrington 220 will request families and staff voluntarily complete an online form, if you have plans for international travel over spring break or during the month of April.
Communication
As this is a developing situation, we will continue sending updates and working with our local public health officials to do what is best for our school community. In addition, please visit our dedicated coronavirus webpage for more information. If there is any urgent information to share, we will notify you by email/text/phone, as we do for inclement weather days.
