Poverty In Africa

Affects
Poverty is more than being poor or not having much money. It has many affects on people in Africa; education, health, homes, jobs, etc. There is so much more that people don't see, how it affects them, the challenges they face, and the hardships that come with it. They don't get educated, some barely eat, some live in the slums, they can't get good paying jobs, they barely have money. "Africa's share of income has been consistently dropping over the past century by any measure. 1820, the average European worker earned about three times what the average African did. Now, the average European earns twenty times what the average African does" (Poverty In Africa). They get payed fractions of other people, they live 'paycheck to paycheck' but really it's more like cent to cent. 315 million people in Africa get payed and live off a less than a dollar a day. Imagine how hard that is. And on top of that they don't get to live in nice places with running water and other necessities .
Rural Areas
High Poverty Levels
The poverty levels in Africa are very high in rural areas. "Corruption occurs in Africa when the governments do not use money responsibly and instead use it for themselves" (Causes Of Poverty In Africa). Africa's government has a poor history of money spending. Instead of helping the people in need, like the poverty levels, they spend all of it on other things. This should be solved because people shouldn't have to live like that. Without clean running water, food, a nice home, money, and a lot of other things. There are so many people that need help. I think the government can start sending care packages to people in the slums and people in poverty to help them out because they live with so little money. In this case, the governments need to change. They need to start helping these people. At first the change might not be liked because people think the money should be put to other things but in the long run it will eventually help those people in poverty. I think if the government changes to help, so will the people.
