BEC September Parent Newsletter
September 2020
Message from Mrs. Goode
If you ever have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out. I am here to help you in any way I can. We are a team, and I am excited to be on the journey with you and your child.
Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Berry
My name is Angie Berry and I am the counselor at BEC. I look forward to working with your child in character education classes this year. For the month of September, we will dive into the character trait “Responsibility”. We will be learning what responsibility looks like and how students can demonstrate this trait at home and school.
How can parents help support teaching responsibility?
Set the example.
Praise their efforts.
Provide structure and routine.
Let them help you.
Teaching children about responsibility is not easy. It takes lots of practice. Hopefully, these tips will help your child begin to grow into a responsible person.
Also at Bullard Early Childhood, we will be learning The 7 Mindsets. It is a proven social and emotional learning and self determination program that facilitates students to think, interact, and live in a proactive way. In character education, we will discuss the mindset, “We are Connected”. We will explore the ability to “Embrace Everyone” and how to “Maximize Positive Relationships”. It is never too early to learn how to make friends and treat everyone with respect. These life-long skills are beneficial for social and emotional development as well as helping students achieve academic success.
If I can be of assistance to your family in any way, please let me know. I look forward to a great year!
Campus Reminders
- Please send a water bottle to school with your child EVERY DAY with your child's name on it! It is hot outside and students need to drink throughout the day to stay hydrated.
- Please send a snack with your child daily.
- If your child is sick, please do not send them to school. They must be fever-free and/or symptom free for 24 hours without the use of medications before they can return to school.
- Read to your child every night. The best indicator of student success in school is reading to your child every day.
- Don't forget to send tennis shoes for PE, especially on Fridays.

To Wear a Mask or Not Wear a Mask
Depending on specific circumstances regarding each COVID-19 case, a student who chooses to wear a mask or face covering might not be required to quarantine for 14 days if a student in their classroom tests positive for COVID-19. This is not a guarantee. Each individual circumstance will be evaluated. We appreciate your patience as we work through these unprecedented times with guidance and recommendations changing daily.
