Verbum Dei Community Newsletter

Every Student. Every Day. Whatever It Takes.#ThisSchoolWorks

Philippians 2:5

I often enjoy the random memes that I see posted on Facebook and Instagram. Some of my favorites:

Sunday’s carbs don’t count. Those are the Lord’s carbs and He wants you to be happy.

Or

My whole childhood I thought it was illegal to turn on a light in the car while driving! My parents lied to me!

I came across a meme recently that caused me to pause. It said, “If everyone in our school had your attitude what kind of place would it be?”

Carrying out the mission of Verbum Dei, requires all of us- students, parents, faculty and staff to work together, build each other up, and contribute positively to each other’s lives and ministries. That which tears us apart- criticism, negativity, being uncooperative- will never help us fulfill Verbum Dei’s mission. As Fr. Privett stated in his homily, “God’s Spirit calls us to patience, goodness, peace, gentleness- to all those qualities that hold us together and enables us to build each other up, never to tear down.”

Let us move forward displaying those attitudes that, when multiplied, make it easier for us to live out this amazing mission.

If everyone in our school had your attitude what kind of place would it be?”

Moving forward.

Importance of Academic Clubs

Academic clubs offer students another way of being engaged outside of the regular classroom setting. Being involved in academic clubs can open doors for your future and give you some social networking time with friends. School subjects, career fields, technology, or a special interest topic can be the focus of an academic club.*

Listed below are the clubs offered at Verbum Dei during this 2018-2019 school year. Let's get involved!

If you have any questions regarding cubs please email Ms. Bowie, abowie@verbumdei.us.

Conversations with your sons

In a recent survey, 87% of Verbum Dei parents report talking with their sons about their day. What an important conversation to have. Instead of the typical, "How was your day?", try some of the questions below. These questions help to remind students that their effort determines their results.
