News from Mrs. Ideson's Class

Read All About It!

Hello Kinder Families,

I'm so happy to see the weather beginning to look like spring! I'm looking forward to time outdoors with my almost first graders!

I hope you are enjoying your child's "Book In A Bag." Just as a reminder, at the beginning of the week they will receive a new book. Please read it with them for the first couple of days, and then have them practice reading independently each night. They should bring their books back (in the plastic bag) on Friday. The next week, they will receive a new book. Reading the same book each night will build confidence and help them to become fluent readers.

I am working on report cards, which will be sent home on March 23rd. Please keep the report card, then sign the envelope and send it back to school. Your child's final report card will be sent home in the same envelope.

Thank you for your continued support at home both academically and behaviorally. We are working very hard to remember to follow school rules and be leaders! This includes being safe, respectful and responsible.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me any time : )

Stephannie Ideson

March 16th and 17th, half days. Students will be dismissed at 12:15.

March 22nd-23rd I will have a substitute teacher on these two days. I will be attending a "Leader In Me" conference with Mrs. Stephens.

March 24th, Bingo night.

March 25-April 3rd, No school. Spring Break...Enjoy!! School will resume on April 4th.

Homework is sent home every Monday, and is due the following Monday. Please remind your child to include their name on their homework packet. I have been receiving many packets with no name.

We are working on recording 2-4 complete sentences and adding detail to our writing. We continue to work on " 5 star sentences." (Begins with a capital letter, ends with punctuation, written neatly, finger spaces between words, makes sense) Practicing at home is a great way to build a young writer's confidence. We are currently working on an animal research writing piece. My friends are doing a great job searching for facts about an animal of their choice and writing about them. This week, we will be working with 4th grade buddies from Mr. Neher's class to help us along.

We are practicing our popcorn words daily and using them to help us read and write each day. We receive 6 new words each week! Please works on these words at home as well. This week's new words are up, for, here, soon, go and they.

Please continue to work on letter formation and letter sounds at home. My friends can never get enough practice.

Things to work on at home:

*Writing numbers 1-50

*Number stories using addition and subtraction, this is a biggie!!

*Counting by 1's, 2's, 10's, and 5's.

I am so excited to tell you that we will soon begin our "Animals Two by Two" unit soon. We will have many exciting things happening in our classroom, including caring for fish and insects, as well as watching and learning about the life cycle of a chick. Yes, we will have baby chicks hatching on our room! I'm sure my friends will love learning about life cycles and what animals need to survive.

A Million Thanks!!

I am so very grateful for the classroom donations and for those who volunteer their time. You are simply the best!

We are currently in need of sanitizing wipes, pencils and bad-aids.

Thank you!
