Weekly Update
October 22-26
Fall Festival
As you can imagine, it takes a lot to get an event like this to run smoothly. We need people to help work games and booths for our event. Hourly teachers will all have one hour of time cut the week leading to the Fall Festival. Any time worked at the festival will be paid normal hourly rate for hourly teachers (if you earn overtime, you will get paid overtime). There are two different times available to work - 9:00-11:15 am or 11:00 am-1:15 pm. At this point, we need people to work the later shift. If you are interested in working, please see Amanda.
All teachers who work will receive a raffle ticket for each hour worked. We will have some great raffle prizes specifically for teachers, including gift cards, Merryhill logo apparel, and other special treats.
Thank you in advance for your help in making this day a success. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Elementary Notifications and Upcoming Events
*Drum roll please.... the winning classes of the fall fundraiser are 3rd grade (Mrs. Bradley) and Pre-K Yellow (Mrs. Collins and Ms. Donaldson). Congratulations! Those classes will both have a pizza and cookie party Friday, November 2. Those teachers may wear jeans the week of October 29-November 2 and will each be able to select a Merryhill item (up to $30 value). They also have bragging rights for the year. Great job selling!
*This week is Red Ribbon Week. Katrina has posted the dress up days and emailed those to you as well. Please participate as you are able and encourage your students to do the same. We will be distributing red ribbons on Monday morning. Students are encouraged to wear those all week.
*We will be drawing for Fantastic Friday on Wednesday, October 24. Please bring your tickets to the gym.
*Your first lunch bunch recipient for trustworthiness is due October 24. We will be announcing these students on Friday. Please email me your recipient with a few sentences about why you chose that person.
*4th, 5th, and 6th grades will be attending Wings over Dallas on Friday, October 26 from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm. Amber, Debbye, and Charlie will attend. There will be no PE classes on Friday. All participants need to bring a disposable sack lunch.
*The end of the grading quarter is Friday, October 26. Please make sure all of your grades are updated in Alma; you will have to manually drop the lowest daily grade for each subject. Please also send me a copy of your attendance for the quarter so I can ensure I make necessary changes in Alma. I will need this report Friday, October 26. I have a plan for attendance going forward. Please be in the cafeteria at 7:50 am on Friday, October 26 so we can briefly discuss and start to implement on Monday, October 29.
*Friday, October 26 is spirit day. Jeans may be worn with your Merryhill shirt.
*Thank you to those of you who answered my candy corn question last week!! I do enjoy getting to know you better (and like knowing that you read the Smore). Since I am interested in getting to know you better, let's start a weekly question. This week's question: what is your favorite breakfast cereal?
