Halloween around Disney
- Parade: A short "Halloween Parade" will take place beginning at 10:00AM on Monday, October 31st. Weather permitting, we will parade out the main doors and around the building. Our kindergarten students will lead the parade around each classroom and then out around the building. Parents are welcome to line the blacktop around the perimeter of the building to watch our costume parade. If it's "sprinkling/drizzling," we will proceed with our outdoor parade- so students should plan accordingly. If it's a solid rain/pouring- our parade will be canceled. We will not be attempting an indoor parade.
- Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels will be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check.
- Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Monday, October 31st. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.
Costume Parade Route
Please note, if there is a steady rain/downpour, the parade will be canceled.

Science Olympiad Informational Meeting
There will be an informational meeting for families of 3rd-6th graders that are curious about joining the Science Olympiad team at Disney on Wednesday, November 9 after school in the media center from 3:45-4:30. At the meeting, you will find out what Science Olympiad is and what the commitment looks like and be able to decide if it is a good fit for your family. Please note that there is limited space on the team, so we are looking for students and families that are serious about dedicating themselves to preparing and attending the competitions.
If you have any questions regarding Science Olympiad, please email Mrs. Hamilton at christine.hamilton@fraserk12.org.
Please click here to sign up for the meeting by November 8 so that we can prepare accordingly. Thank you!

5th & 6th Grade Band Update
We are reaching out to provide an update on our elementary band program. The district has hired a new teacher and the program will resume on Monday, November 14th.
While we are in transition with our new teacher, your student can still be working on their band skills while at home. Below are some recommendations of at home activities from Mr. Rodgers.
5th Grade
Students can use the "Essential Elements" book that they purchased on rental night to read and learn how to put the instrument together, hold the instrument, and produce a tone. They can also look at the "Fingering Chart" in the back of the book to learn how to finger notes and try to produce them. In addition, students can sign up for "Essential Elements Interactive" for additional resources. This information is found on the first two pages of the book.
Below are some helpful videos your student can watch to help learn how to put their instrument together.
6th Grade
Students should continue to review what they were working on in the "Essential Elements" book. Review previous music and look ahead to new music and concepts in the book.
Thank you for your support and flexibility as the district found a new elementary band instructor.

Red Ribbon Week
Cold Weather is Here
We're starting to see MANY students bundled up each day, which is great! Please be sure to send your child to school dressed for the weather each day. Students will start needing warm coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and/or boots daily throughout the winter.
Please take time to label each and every item- because our lost and found gets bombarded with lost winter accessories throughout the season
Please note that, per Board Policy, we will be having outdoor morning lineup and heading outdoors for our 20 minute recess(es) if the windchill is 10+ degrees.
Time outdoors is time well spent for kids, in all seasons

Parent Access to Canvas Learning Management System is Now Available
Parent/guardian access to our learning management system, Canvas, is now available. With your parent account, you will be able to view you child's assignments and coursework.
Please click here for detailed instructions on how to create your parent account. You will need to use a web browser, and your student will need to be logged in to their Canvas account on a separate device in order to generate the required pairing code.
We encourage you to create your account and become familiar with Canvas. If you need additional support with creating your parent account, please find a pre-recorded information meeting regarding Canvas on our website, www.fraser.k12.mi.us/canvas.
