After an argument with Polydectes, Perseus said he would bring him anything the king wanted, so Polydectes asked for the head of the Gorgon Medusa. Perseus had to kill Medusa, but he had some help from the gods. They gave him an invisible helm, magical sword, and winged sandals. On his journey he stole the single eye of the Graiai who gave Perseus the idea of where to find Medusa. Perseus finds Medusa lair. He goes inside and kills Medusa with his sword and cuts off her head. Perseus brings Medusa head back to Polydectes.
