Donate to Christmas Sharing
It is Christmas Sharing time again! Christmas Sharing started over 25 years ago as a joint effort between the churches and schools in the Wheaton area with the goal being to provide for needy families during the holiday season. Madison school is asking for your donations to assure the success of the program.
Needed items include clothing (gently used is okay), new underwear and socks, blankets, winter coats, mittens, boots, paper products, baby wipes, diapers, baby food, baby clothes, toys, food, face/body soap, cleaning supplies, and other nonperishable goods. The program is also in need of cash donations.
There will be Christmas Sharing tables set up near the main doors and we will be collecting donations through the first week of December. Thank you so much for all your support and together we can make a difference.
Questions? Contact Lisa Parrilli, Madison social worker.
Thank you for homeless shelter donations
Thank you to the Madison community for all the household items donated for the Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans and to the Daisy Troop who helped load all the items into Mrs. Feeley's car to transport to the shelter. Your support was greatly appreciated.
Order a yearbook
Orders can now be placed for the 2018-2019 Madison Paw Prints. A yearbook costs $17 and will be delivered to the student before the end of the school year. For those new to the school, Madison Elementary School yearbooks cannot be ordered on ParentVue as with the middle school and high school yearbooks. Our yearbook is 52 full color pages that includes many of the wonderful activities and events that happen during the school year.
Please click here to order and pay with a credit card or check. The passcode is 1014308585474714.
Please refer to this spreadsheet, which includes all orders as of Monday, Oct. 29, 2018, to verify if an order has been placed for your child.
Interested in joining the Yearbook Committee? There are many opportunities to help from taking photos of special events, to creating actual yearbook pages using TreeRing, to helping with orders and more. A volunteer or two from each grade level is needed to take pictures of each student and create the grade's collage page. If you have any questions, please contact Dawn Draus and Megan Savitt at yearbook@madisonschoolpta.org

Recycle your markers and crayons at Madison
The Conservation Committee students began a project to collect old dried up markers and crayons to be recycled and repurposed; thus saving them from a landfill. The markers can be any brand and are shipped free of charge back to the Crayola Company as part of their Color Cycle program where they are turned into clean fuel. The crayons will be collected and taken to SCARCE, a local organization that melts old crayons and turns them into new crayons for special needs students. There is a box in each classroom and in the office. Crayons and markers can be brought in from home. Thanks to Madison parent Kate Clarke for spearheading this awesome program and offering to collect and ship the markers.

Volunteer in the LLC
Our Library Learning Center (LLC) is in need of your support. We are seeking volunteers in both the morning (9:15 a.m.-12 p.m.) and afternoon (1 - 3:30 p.m.) sessions. Mrs. Graham, our LLC Director, couldn't have the program she has today without your help. Your time is appreciated no matter how often you can volunteer, be it every week, every other week, or once a month. Volunteering in the library is a special way parents and grandparents can share in their child's school day. Some of the LLC volunteering activities include shelving, checking materials in and out, preparing displays and bulletin boards, and assisting students and faculty. If you are interested in volunteering in the Madison library, please contact Kathryn Medanic at llcvolunteers@madisonschoolpta.org
Save General Mills box tops
Please save General Mills box tops and turn them in to the LLC. Madison can earn ten cents for every General Mills box top received. Thank you to Cecilia Horjes for heading up this effort. We purchased many copies of award books for the library. Thank you for your support.
