The Triton Tribune Parent Edition
Be Kind ~ Be Awesome ~ Make The Right Choices
Volume 3 ~ Issue 16 ~ November 15, 2021
Awesome Triton Families,
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” ~William Arthur Ward
As we go into the Thanksgiving week, I want us to focus on all that is good. Eckhart Tolle once said, "Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance." It is impossible to be grateful and be depressed at the same time. And being grateful for what we have is a choice. I want you to take time this week to chronicle all the good in your lives and verbally express your gratitude for them. Here is what I am thankful for:
- I am thankful for my faith that keeps me grounded.
- I am thankful for my husband and two children who serve as constant reminders of what is important.
- I am thankful for my circle of friends who have encouraged me along this journey called life.
- I am thankful for my ELM staff who continue to persevere and aim to give the best of themselves and many times in sacrifice of their own families.
- I am thankful for all the ELM staff who stepped up this last Friday and covered classes so that all students could continue learning at school.
- I am thankful for my students who have shown resilience beyond compare.
- I am thankful for my students who are willing to try new ways of learning.
- I am thankful for my ELM parents who are doing their very best to support their children's learning.
PARENT TEACHER STUDENT ORGANIZATION (PTSO)
On behalf of the PTSO officers, I would like to encourage you to join PTSO for this year. The cost is $10/person. All funds are given back to the school in the form of teacher grants, teacher celebration and other community events. Last year, PTSO did not have a membership drive because we were not in person but now they are back. If you are interested in joining PTSO, please email our PTSO president, Ms. Erin Ferma. Her email is Erin email@example.com or you may contact her at 619.379.4780. Below is the PTSO flyer that contains a QR code that makes it easy for you to join PTSO. Thank you for supporting their work.
POOLED TESTING SCHOOLWIDE COMING SOON AFTER THANKSGIVING
Currently, Mr. Nafarrete is working out the details of implementing schoolwide testing at ELM. As we start to add events during and after school hours, district COVID protocols must be implemented. For example, all homecoming events this year required all attendees to get tested regardless of vaccination status. This will become the new normal. Our first major schoolwide event is our Triton Motivational Send-Off on December 17. While this is a school event during school hours, students will not be in their classrooms as they will be moving between three events. Consequently, to ensure our safety protocols, all students must be tested 72 hours prior the event. Students who did not get a negative COVID test result will not be able to participate. Some of you have already submitted consent forms for the pooled testing. If you have not, click on this LINK to complete the consent form. If you have any questions regarding pooled testing, please contact any of the administration team to have your questions answered.
TRITON MOTIVATION SEND-OFF DAY IS DECEMBER 17, 2021
We have been approved for our Triton Motivational Send-Off for this school year. Our very first one two years ago was immensely successful and we anticipate that this year's event will be even be more so! Below is the most recent information on our big event. Families, think about how you can contribute to the military care packages.
Finally, please read the newsletter in its entirety as there are many pertinent information regarding school for the next two weeks.
Let's have an amazing week!
What is the Triton Motivational Send-off Event?
Since students will not be in their regular classrooms, the district views this event just like Homecoming or Prom. See schedule below. This means ALL students and staff must provide a 72-hour negative test regardless of vaccination status. Here are two ways in which you can do that:
- Participate in the schoolwide pooled testing program. This is preferred. If you want your child to participate in this testing program, click HERE to access the consent form that must be completed PRIOR to being tested. Please do not wait until the week of the event to complete this form. The school code is: Sweetwater-ELM.
- Provide your own negative test through your medical provider. No home tests allowed.
Once again, we are looking for donations for our military care packages that students will create during the Acts of Service Event. Our goal is to create 1500 military care packages to donate to the USO. Click on this LINK to see some of the items we will need. A Triton Motivational Wish List on Amazon has been created. Click HERE to access the Amazon Wish List. Our goal is that EVERY student and staff donate something, whether it is one pack of gum or a whole box of Slim Jims. We got this!
This week, we recognize our Artist of the Week, Camila Close and our three Robotics teams. Well done!
Staff, please remind students that they need to wear appropriate PE attire when in PE.
On behalf of the Culture & Climate Committee, we would like to start posting weekly tips for teachers to show kindness to students. Attached is third tip. Also, scan the QR to add a tip from you that we can share with each other. Thank you!
With Progress Report 2 approaching, below are the academic supports that ELM has in place to ensure students are being successful in their classes.
Tritons, Yearbook needs your help. Please submit, if you can, to each of the requests below.
Please note that our Concentric Testing Days have moved to Mondays and Wednesdays.
The Triton Trait for October is Gratitude. "Life is better when you develop an attitude of gratitude." Lewis Howes. This means making it a habit to express thankfulness and appreciation for both the big and small things alike in your life.
