Halloween/Fall Reminders
All classes will participate in a classroom party engaging in Halloween activities on Friday, October 29th in the afternoon.
Our Spirit Week will begin on Monday October 25th.

All district elementary schools will have a Halloween Parade in the morning. Our parade will take place at 9:00AM. We will have an area coned off that our students will parade through on the blacktop. Parents/guardians are welcome to view the parade around our coned perimeter outdoors. Afternoon Kindergarten will parade at 1:00pm.
Weather Permitting! If it is raining, our students will parade within the school building and unfortunately visitors will not be allowed. We are hoping the weather cooperates. As a reminder, our district does have a food and allergy policy and will not be able to distribute any candy/food at the parties.
In regards to costumes, students will need to wear their costumes to school. Due to bathroom space constraints, students will not be able to change into costumes at school; which is why we are having parades in the morning. As previously communicated through our District guidelines, students cannot have costumes that have weapons, blood, violence or items that may frighten younger children. Students will be required to wear their health masks during the day so face make up would not be necessary.
We are aware that some families do not celebrate Halloween or Fall Festivities. If you wish for your child to not participate in the parade or class party, please reach out to your child’s classroom teacher. Thank you for your continued support! We are so happy to celebrate fall festivities with our students who deserve some extra f

AM and PM Reminders
As the weather begins to change, we are asking for help with drop off and pick up. Below are some helpful reminders to ensure all students and staff stay safe.
A.M. Procedures:
During AM drop off times, the front staff parking lot is closed. Please refrain from moving school cones to drive through. This is for STAFF ONLY. We encourage all families to utilize our drop off procedure rather than “the park and walk in” method. Our drop off method is designed to build independence and confidence of our students, provide a safe experience and is the most efficient method for the high volume of vehicles dropping off students. If you must, you can park on School Street and students can use Door 10 by School Street for a more convenient entry. Please follow traffic signs as not all of School St allows parking. If you need to park and come inside the main office, please use any available street parking, following traffic laws.
If you use the semi-circle in front of school to drop off, all vehicles should enter at the north end of the circle drive and exit at the south end. There will be one lane of traffic.
Pull up as far as possible toward the stop sign to let out your child. Each child should get out of the car on the curb side, if possible. Parents should remain in their cars as this will help the line to flow and prevent congestion. Staff will be out front to help students get out of their cars and into the building each morning.
P.M. Kindergarten will be dropped off at the front of the building, using the semi-circle. Staff will be there to receive these students and help them get to their classroom.
All students must cross at the crosswalk in the front circle with an adult. We cannot allow students to cross through our staff parking lot alone.
P.M. Procedures:
All vehicles using the front semi-circle should enter at the north end and exit at the south end; otherwise please feel free to use street parking, following traffic laws.
Please continue to pull all the way forward to allow for a continuous, safe flow of cars.
Parents will need to remain in their car when their student(s) enters the vehicle
Staff will assist to ensure your child gets to your car safely
Please remind your child to enter the car on the side of the school, if possible.
To avoid a bottleneck, please consider parking along School Street. Some areas are only drop off. Please follow street signs. Please do not park on Meadows Dr. The residential side of School Street is a public street- all traffic laws do apply. Please be aware of blocking the driveways of private homes- this is prohibited. By following, congestion around the building has been avoided, and a safer environment has been created for all children. The Rolling Meadows Police Department will enforce parking regulations strictly. Parents are urged to adhere to them.
Your child’s teacher will inform you of the door your child will come out of and any specific routes that may be applicable.
All students must cross at the crosswalk in the front circle with an adult. We cannot allow students to cross through our staff parking lot alone.

Outdoor Recess District Procedures
There have been some questions regarding cold weather procedures for recess. We are hoping to have a few more months of beautiful weather and this to be an FYI. Please see our district-wide outdoor procedures below. If your child is in need of a winter jacket, please send me an email; lacamerm@ccsd15.net
Students generally go outside for recess every day, so they should dress appropriately for the weather. Exceptions are made only when a child brings a doctor's note excusing him/her from outdoor recess.
Staff members provide playground supervision. If students are not following behavior expectations, a staff member will address the behavior with the student(s). Based on the behavior, the child may speak to an administrator.
Cold weather: Indoor recess is determined based on the following guidelines:If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is below 0°F, all students will remain inside for the entire lunch hour.
If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is between 0°-10°F, the preferred procedure is a rotation of 20 minutes for lunch, a 20-minute outdoor recess, and a 20-minute indoor recess. However, at the principal's discretion, students may be kept inside for the entire lunch hour.
If the temperature outside, together with the wind chill, is above 10°F, students will have regular outdoor recess.
Warm weather: Students will be outside for recess/PE if the temperature (or heat index) is below 100 degrees. Students will be inside for recess/PE if the temperature (or heat index) is 100 degrees or above.
Other considerations in which indoor recess is allowed include the condition of the playground and the presence of precipitation.
oor recess, students are supervised in their classrooms.
