National School Counseling Week 2020 (#NSCW2020) is Feb. 3–7, 2020. The week, sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), highlights the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and the tremendous impact they can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. SurveyWorks!
The Rhode Island Department of Education is currently administering its yearly SurveyWorks Parent Survey, which is an opportunity for parents to provide feedback about our school and our children’s opportunities to learn. The survey results are most useful when all parents participate, so I am writing to ask you to participate in this survey.
Your views on matters like the safety of your child at school, the way students are taught, the condition of the school, and how connected you feel to this school are important. By taking this short survey you can help our school leadership and our parent-teacher organization to make improvements to our school. Responses are anonymous and cannot be linked to any individual; no one can tie your responses back to you.
The short survey will be available from now until 3/6/2020.
To take the survey, visit: https://surveys.panoramaed.com/RIDE/login and enter code 25108family. You may complete the survey one time for each child you have at the high school.
5 Easy Steps to Complete Your Family Survey
Step 1: Visit surveys.panoramaed.com/ride
Step 2: Enter your school’s unique access code (25108family).
Step 3: On the Welcome page, your school’s survey will be displayed. Click “Start Surveys”
Step 4: You have now accessed the family survey. In the top left hand corner, there is a drop down menu. Select English or Spanish or Portuguese.
Step 5: For each question, select the answers that best apply to your experience and beliefs. Once finished, click “Submit,” and you are done!

SAT TEST DAY for Juniors is Wednesday, March 25, 2020
All NSHS juniors will be administered the SAT for free on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. All juniors are pre-registered and have been preparing for the SAT in English and Math classes throughout the school year. Please see the student guide to the SAT from the CollegeBoard at the link below.
https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/sat-school-day-student-guide.pdf
Students should bring:
- Two No. 2 pencils with erasers
- An approved calculator
- A watch (without an audible alarm)
- Extra batteries and backup equipment—you’ll have to ask for permission to access them. They cannot be on your desk during the test.
- A drink or snacks (for your break)
Calculator Smarts
- Bring your own calculator. You can’t share one.
- Don’t bring a brand-new calculator. Bring one you know. Practice for the test using the same calculator you’ll use on test day.
- The Math Test includes some questions where it’s better not to use a calculator, even though you’re allowed to.
- It may help to do scratch work in the test book. Get your thoughts down before using your calculator.
- Make sure your calculator is in good working order and that batteries are fresh. The test center will not have batteries or extra calculators. If your calculator fails during testing and you have no backup, you'll have to complete the test without it.
