Principal Newsletter
From the Desk of Mrs. Riley
November 8, 2018
Dear Parents,
"For it is in giving that we receive." St. Francis of Assisi. Our school families have been so generous with donations for our Thanksgiving baskets! Thank you to all of our parents who signed up to donate an item to the classroom Thanksgiving basket. The students may purchase feathers to decorate their class turkey for $1. All money raised will be used to purchase turkeys and gift cards for the baskets. The classroom with the most money raised will be treated to a pizza party. Donations will be accepted until Friday, November 16th.
Please join us for our special "Veterans Day Assembly" at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 14th as we celebrate with gratitude all that they have sacrificed. We have over 20 veterans joining us. Most are relatives of our school students. If you would like to invite a veteran, please email me their name and branch of service by Monday, November 12th.
It is our hope that this winter season does not bring us the amount of school cancellations as last year. In an effort to decrease the amount of lost instructional time, this year we will be adding a 3 hr. delay to our schedule. This will be in addition to the 2 hr. delay. There are times when waiting another hour will eliminate the need to cancel school for the day. More details will follow as the need arises.
Thank you for your constant support and prayers for our school. I encourage you to continue to support our work as we advance our mission to provide a transformative education steeped in academics and faith to our deserving students. There is no greater investment for forming our future saints than a Catholic education!
Please carefully review this week's newsletter for many reminders and updates. We thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the sacrifices you make each day to send your child(ren) to Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic School.
God’s Peace,
Mrs. Barbara Riley
Principal
